I can't get past this ....... I know there's nothing we probably can't do but don't we somewhat owe it to one of the best pg to ever play at Iowa State. Some how some way we need to cause enough attention to this that we make them have to reconsider this .
Time to hold a march, everyone. It'll be tough to schedule with all the other marches everybody is regularly attending, but I know we'll find a way to squeeze it in.
I said he's the best ball handler in an entire generation of college basketball players. Statistics STRONGLY back this up. Learn to read before you insult people. You look like a freaking idiot.

Afternoon all...this post is going to be somewhat of a rant today. The reason for the rant? Well the Cousy Award finalists were announced today. For those of you that don't know what that is, it is the award that goes out to the best point guard in college basketball. Before I go on, I want you to ask yourself what you think of when you hear point guard? Was it points? Was it Top 5 team? Was it name brand?
Personally, when I think of point guard, I think of assists, ball handling, and running an offense. I just don't think that is the case when it comes to the people voting for this award. The top 5 point guards in the nation are apparently from the top 6 ranked teams. Are there correlations between a really good team and having a really good point guard? Sure, but you are going to tell me that the Top 5 point guards in the nation all happen to play for the top 5-6 teams in the nation? Sorry, not buying that even if I didn't know what kind of a year a kid who lives in Ames, IA is having.
Monte Morris is having an All-American year and he has made All-American teams for a few publications so far, but he doesn't have the right name on his jersey. He has a top 25 team, but I guess that isn't good enough. He set the NCAA record for Assist/TO ratio, and he is breaking his own record this year (wait smashing it), but I guess that isn't good enough. He will be in elite company by leading the NCAA in a statistical category for three years with the likes of Pete Maravich and Oscar Robertson, but nope that isn't all that great. He is tripling (do you hear me)....tripling the next closest player in Assist/TO ratio in conference play. That is the equivalent of someone putting up 60+ points in conference play since there are other's putting up 20+ points in conference play. Tell me what the nation would be doing if there was someone averaging 60 points per game in conference? Yep right you are...crowning that player as the next Steph Curry perhaps. Scoring is sexy, plain and simple, but the art of running a team, finding the open man, and treasuring each possession is a thing of the past just just like the great Bob Cousy himself.
I'm sorry Monte. I guess you have some proving wrong to do because the stats in the picture (Monte vs the 5 finalists) didn't prove it enough. The tournaments are yours for the taking. Bring home #cyclONEnation some trophies.

Coulda sworn he broke the record his freshman year for Assist/TO ratio. How did he get third?

Alright, those stats aren't a good representation of Assist/TO ratio, but still fair
Zierden - 26 assists to 4 turnovers in 304 minutes
Mason - 74 assists to 13 turnovers in 25 games
Monte - 134 to 27 turnovers
Not sure why I remember so vividly Monte getting a plaque after his freshman year for breaking the NCAA assist to turnover ratio record?
This is not going to end well but I will try. I am NOT trying to cause trouble with this question but has anyone ever wondered if this amazing A/TO ratio is really a great thing? ISU has finished with 8, 9 and 12 losses in Morris' first three years and is at 10 already this year.
Is it possible that avoiding possible turnovers has resulted in Morris not taking some risks that, if successful, might have won him and ISU more games? Is Monte Morris the ncca hoops version of the KC Chiefs Alex Smith in that he won't hurt you by turning it over but kinda hurts you by never risking a turnover?
I swear I am not trying to troll. It is a serious attempt to discuss this as a possibility.

I think minimum 3 Ast/game. Micah Mason missed it by 1 assist
This could be the case but he is also has the most assists in school history.
To some degree, yeah, I think he's been a bit to "safe" with the ball. But at the same time, playing looser with the ball can also lead to turnovers/points for the other team. I think it's mostly a wash, especially when you consider the fact that ISU's roster isn't full of 5* talent. There are a lot of variables that can sway this discussion one way or the other.
