Like I said, I give it a 2% chance but there are way too many variables at play (and games to be played) to say we are locked into a 4 to 7 seed.
If we lose our next two games, we still aren't a 10 seed. 0% chance of us having that seed...

Re: SMC ... don't worry, Saint Mary's will drop to 7/8 ... no shot for boosting win unless Gaels beat Zags in WCC tourney final ... teams in 6-to-8 vicinity in bigger conferences have more chances to climb.

A 9 or 10 seed probably wouldn't want to draw Saint Mary's. And as 7-ish, SMC could knock off a vulnerable 2-seed.

Yeah, they should definitely not be as a single digit seed when you lose to UT-Arlington at home by 14. Even if your only other two losses are to Gonzaga.

UT Arlington is #35 in RPI. Probably propping them up a bit.

Agreed...if we lose to WV (RPI #25) and assuming Baylor beats Texas, we play OSU (RPI #29)...and if we lose that, our RPI is only going to shift marginally lower. I would bet that we would be the underdog in both games...maybe even against OSU. That argues for a 7 or 8 seed. Win either game and 6 is the seed.

I give it a 2% chance but it could happen. Our RPI is currently 33. If we lose our next 2 games, we could drop to around 40. While RPI isnt the only factor in seeding, it is one of the biggest factors.
Our RPI right now is 30. If we lose our next two games (losing to OSU in KC) our RPI will be 33. In no possible scenario will we be a 10 seed

Here is an approximate list of teams ISU is battling for seeds between 5 and 8 ... exact seed order may be off a bit, it's about 1 day behind.
4
Purdue (Big Ten) (we won't jump B10 champ, putting this here as ceiling)
West Virginia
5
Virginia
SMU (American)
Cincinnati
Notre Dame
6
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Maryland
Creighton
7
Iowa State
Oklahoma State
Dayton (Atlantic 10)
Saint Mary’s

I don't see Creighton staying that high. They will be punished for Watson's injury and deservedly so.

Obviously, keep winning and improving seed, but all things considered I think this is as "easy" of route to at least the second weekend as we can hope for.

*6 seed playing Marquette in Milwaukee which would could stink, however it is a close regional for us.

I saw that one the other day, so I'm thinking they really haven't changed our seeding much based on the win last night. I think it definitely solidifies the 6 for us though.

agreed, however I think that is our floor... and we certainly can hit the 5 seed with 1 win or better.

I really, really thought we were a bubble team headed down to the wire this year. The fact we turned our season around and we're "in" already is amazing to me.

I don't really think it matters that much whether we're a 4,5,6,7,8 seed this year - we could get a favorable match up or unfavorable one at any of those slots. hopefully we get some good bracket luck.

I've been surprised to see Creighton hanging in there that high as well. Take their trend without Watson across the entire season and they're not even a tournament team, let alone a 6 seed. I think the committee will be more critical of them than the pollsters have been.

Can Marquette play in Milwaukee as the host school? Isn't that what we ran into with DsM a year or two back? I'd still take Milwaukee in a heartbeat, even if we had to play Marquette. I think we could take that place over.

Unless I'm unaware of additional technicality, Marquette wouldn't be able to play there. I think it was lazy bracketing on USA Today's part (although it's a bit locked-in with two Big East 11 seeds and another BE at 6 ... so shuffling the 11s could've caused a problem)
