And here I thought it was really just a thinly veiled debate by those wanting a different coach?

Oh no...not you, too. Or was that sarcasm? Discussion and disagreement do not equal 'agenda'. (In case you're reading, jsb , I do like Prohm. As usual on our message board, I hope we're still discussing/analyzing/and having good discussions on the team in three years and beyond with him as head coach. )

Fair point but on the flip side, can you show me any positive comments from any ISU personnel regarding Kasongo? ISU has had something like 8 sit out transfers the last 5 years? Almost all we've heard about how good they've looked during their sit out year. Crickets on Kasongo.

Most of that was Matt A hyping up guys he brought in because that is what Matt A does.

Kind of both. I mean, I never thought people would get this agitated over Ernst, so seems like there must be some subtext going on here that I just don't understand.

I don't think 'most' are agitated. I think most posters just felt they saw potential in Ernst and since he was an Iowa boy it might be cool to develop him. Now,... whether he would have played this year or next or beyond, who knows? But you're right, trusting Prohm did what he thought best for his team. I imagine the fact that a top 20 Xavier got the commit opened a lot of eyes. Not much different than discussion on whether we should offer and develop a football recruit from Iowa who later starts at Iowa or Kansas State as a walk-on vs. a guy from Florida or wherever.

Don't be too hard on yourself, at least you're good at trolling Iowa fans.

I forgot, I'm supposed to see potential in a guy that was going to go play at Kirkwood until we offered late for a practice body and then got shut down 6 games into the season to redshirt him.

Based mine on talking to guys at practices, but it was an unknown and work in progress I'm sure. Plus I think he had potential strength and size to bang with big 12 bodies, but Holden has that and we see that doesn't mean you can play at a high level.

Who all wanted Kasongo when we got him? I know Dixon wanted him at TCU and then wasn't it like Illinois and Seton Hall or something? FWIW I don't have high hopes for him

Quick twitter search shows ISU, TCU, USC, Seton Hall, UNLV, San Diego State, Georgetown, St. Johns, Washington, Washington State and Cal were in on Kasongo

Very true that Matt A loved to slip nuggets to the media hyping his dudes but Prohm made comments about Babb last season to the register http://www.desmoinesregister.com/st...t-impressing-during-redshirt-season/78590780/

Haven't seen anything like that regarding Kasongo and that worries me considering our current big men aren't exactly all Americans

Meh, I'm sure if Birch wanted to write the same article you'd get plenty of glowing praise for Kasongo from Prohm. It's not like Prohm got up at a presser and said, "EVERYONE STOP I NEED TO PRAISE NWB RIGHT NOW".

I don't have any real big hopes for Kasongo or anything anyway. Prohm might have brought him in as a project not a piece we don't know.
