What's the proper way to serve a grilled cheese sandwich?

2 triangles is the correct answer. I used to cut them into four squares/rectangles, but once I figured out that was weird (sorry boone7247) I stopped it immediately.

Does anyone else use a griddle to make theirs? I used to use the pan, but the griddle does them so much more evenly.

that nobody has insisted it be on Texas Toast is redonkulous.

Two Pieces of Texas Toast
Butter on outside of each piece
Cheese/cheese type food in middle
Griddle until golden brown/Flip/repeat

Cut diagonally and gently spread apart until substance in middle oozes a bit

Dip in Heinz (no other ketchup is worth a ****) and eat

My boys and I have a particular fondness for grilled cheese.

After my ex-wife and I split, grilled cheesers were the first real food I made that they really loved. They asked their mom to make them like dad makes them. That was a win for me.

I made a full Thanksgiving dinner later on that I still brag about.

Now I'm with my new wife and she doesn't seem to understand our fondness for grilled cheesers.

I've seen somewhere where it suggests spreading mayonnaise on your bread to grill the grilled cheese with. I haven't tried it yet because I'm not the biggest mayo fan.

Might be good though. Anyone tried it?

I think the Texas toast option might be the easiest way to produce the four equal squares.

Cut into triangles.

Butter the bread- Both Sides
Bacon + Cheese (1 Slice American, 1 Slice Provolone) + Cream Cheese + Jalepeno's

Sit back and let the Mouthgasm begin

I once saw an episode of Rachael Ray, back when she had an actual cooking show. Her tip to make grilled cheese was to put the butter on the bread. Are there people out there who melt butter in a pan and do it that way?

If you had read the thread you would know the answer to that question.

When I was a little kid, and not allowed to use the stove, I would make "grilled" cheeses for myself by toasting bread in a toaster, and then adding a slice of cheese and microwaving it to melt the cheese.

I would not, however, suggest this method unless you are six years old and not allowed to use the stove.

My sister was fixing our nephew lunch while his mother was out and the sandwich wasn't cut correctly. We had no idea why the waterworks were turned on when she brought him a sandwich. He was traumatized because the sandwich was not cut into "Sticks and Triangles"

It appears you have a goddam genius baby on your hands. Look at all that dipping potential!

Watch the heat, mayo burns/browns/caramelizes quickly, but yes I've done it this way. Prefer butter honestly.

Yes, several times. Its a different flavor than butter for sure, but its goooood.

They are also very good with English toasting bread. Extra crunch.
