Grilled Cheese Sandwich

What's the proper way to serve a grilled cheese sandwich?

My niece asked me to teach her mother (my sister) how to make one. Pretty sad. Told the niece I would teach her and she could actually help around the house. She's in her damn 20's. But seriously, who can't figure this out on their own? Easy and delicious and quick. Triangles for the win. Easy to dip in tomato soup, ketchup, ranch, whatever.
So your niece is in her 20s and still asked you to teach her mom how to make it? Seriously? How will this girl eat when her parents finally kick her out? Does she buy new clothes when the ones she is wearing get dirty?

Another important question is do you butter the bread itself or melt the butter in the pan for each side?

I melt the butter in the pan so that the butter soaks into every little bit of the bread and especially the edges.

I grew up always buttering the bread, and then I had a roommate in college who showed me the melting the butter into the pan method. Mind blown and i've done it ever since.

Oh her parents totally enable her inability to do anything for herself. But the food issue is one where they either get carry out or eat in a restaurant all of the time, and she is at an age where it is hard to get grilled cheese in a restaurant since she is long past the kiddie menu.

Kraft singles make the best grilled cheese.

White Bread
2 Kraft Singles
Butter

Cut in half diagonally.

Dip in tomato soup.

No. Other. Way.

Woah woah woah. Kraft cheese and white bread? Time for you to cut the apron strings and eat a big boy grilled cheese. Get some bread with actual nutritional value and cheese that they can legally call cheese, not "American flavored processed cheese food". Too many adjectives to describe that "food".

**** that ****. If I am going to eat a meal I am gonna get meat. If I want a Grilled Cheese it is because I want a little nostalgia.

Velveeta isn't CHEESE...!

My boys love dad's Super Grilled Cheesers!

Real butter spread on yummy Honey Wheat bread
and heaps of whatever shredded cheese I have in the fridge
cheddar
colby jack
mexican blend
monterrey jack
mozzarella

Just heaps of real actual cheese made from MILK. Not whatever they make singles out of

Throw in some tomato soup or pizza sauce if I have it

Uhh. Ok. If you make a grilled cheese right it's good enough to be a meal.

My sister was fixing our nephew lunch while his mother was out and the sandwich wasn't cut correctly. We had no idea why the waterworks were turned on when she brought him a sandwich. He was traumatized because the sandwich was not cut into "Sticks and Triangles"

Ah, that looks fun!

Personally, I'm lazy so I just eat them whole. No heated up tomato juice either.

Interesting. I've done the Cheese Sandwich sticks before, to facilitate more dipping, but I haven't seen this "diagram" before.

I don't know where my sister came up with that method of cutting. All I know is as a little kid his sandwich had to be cut that way or else.
