*** Official Texas Tech VS IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

That first half was major leagu ugly, blegh. This team is gonna have to improve a lot over the course of the season to do much this year.

Oh, and I can't stand Kevin Lehman.

I love reading these threads when I can't be involved live. It's seriously just a bunch of teenage girls being mad about this boy they like that doesn't like them back.

There's no one to wipe off the black eyeliner and turn down the emo music when the babies get what they want and then it's "well well...effort and rebounds still concerned about how worried I am" when the ***** train can't go any farther down the line.

Every fanbase has "that guy", even us

I enjoyed that immensely. It read very similar to some ISU game threads....

* First Half = "We look collected and mature, like the team we are."
* Second Half = "We are peeing down our leg right now"
"Total panic, wetting themselves. The lack of road games has hurt this team... no toughness at all.. man up.. choke city... good lord"

lol

I really think something finally clicked offensively in the second half. We really defended well most of the game but once that run started the energy on both ends of the court was awesome to see. No, we didn't fix all of our issues but that second half was a hell of a starting point.

Need to start out games like we are behind 10. Great win and now we know we can dig from behind. Let's not start doing that again.

Solomon was probably the most important part of that 4 guard line up. The refs were letting bodies collide without consequence and that is Solomon's game. He can stand in the trenches and body these olders players up. Not only that he is working his ass off. I really hope Prohm recognize that and gives him more time. He can be a great player for us right now, if he can get caught up to speed.

* I LOVE Naz attacking the rim. He played a smart 2nd half and wasn't just launching 3's early in the clock. NWB also had 2 strong drives for buckets during the comeback.

ISU needs more of this. Last year there were two guys who did it with regularity: Niang and Nader. Attacking the rim helps to set up other things. I would love to see Burton attack the rim more, but as others have posted, when he does, he doesn't seem to finish well at this point. He has the physical strength to do it.

I sometimes thinks Burton is still too timid going to rim, he can go hard inside, but then turns too "finesse." Maybe more of a rim-wreck mentality, for lack of better description.

Seams like he does better if he gets the ball at half court. Goes in harder with a head of steam.

We need to create more press havoc in the 1st half. We have the guards to do it. I don't agree with doing it the whole game like WV does but slap it on randomly to get a couple cheap ones.

I agree. There is nothing saying you need to press for 40 min staraight. Work it in situationally for 3-10 min/half and see how it affects our scoring.

You have backcourt depth. Use it.

I just like our nice easy press that burns 10 seconds of clock so we're not down defensively for a full 30 and sometimes more when we give up offensive boards.

"I am getting sick of hearing about Hilton Magic. Tech will look back and see how all those turnovers cost us the game. Need to improve on that."

But the Magic has been known to cause turnovers.

Our half court offense is not great right now. We need the other team to miss shots, so we can get some points in transition. Our defense was better in the second half and TT missed shots.

I'm just getting around to watching the replay but I don't understand how anyone could think that foul at about the 3:00 mark wasn't at minimum a flagrant 1. There was absolutely no play on the ball at he came down hard on Monte's head.
