Random Thoughts IX (The first 8 were probably better)

My dad used to buy wreck/salvage cars and have them fixed up for us kids (he didn't do the work himself). My fist car was a manual red Chevy Beretta. One of second cars was a 2 door Buick Regal the had been in a flood. Apparently that might affect anything computer related like gauges and such. ;) One day I was driving home from school and it started driving really funny. I pulled off the main highway in town and made it to where my grandparents lived. My dad figured out I had run out of gas (because at 15-16 I didn't know what that was like). I don't think that car stayed around much longer after that incident.

You were driving a car by yourself at 15? Unless you grew up on a farm (where kids tend to start driving when they're about 3) that seems illegal.

School permits man school permits.

I didn't get to drive on the blacktop with the pickup until I was 10, I'm going to ask mom why she didn't trust me then.

I was there, too. Between this and the Twister thing I now feel like KC was stalking me in college. I always felt like there might be a monkey on my back.

I can't remember if it was Petty or Billy Joel that took place during the huge snowstorm. Maybe it was both.
Don't remember a snowstorm, but hell - it was a loooooong time ago...

When I look at my nine year old and try to imagine her driving tractors and pickups like I did at her age, I just shake my head. The level of trust my parents had in us was remarkable. That, or they were trying to cull their herd by natural selection.

I was just going to post something similar. My youngest turns 10 in April. By that age, I was given orders to hook up equipment, drive it down the road, work the ground, and then drove home in the dark with it. I won't even let my oldest do that.

If I were driving at 9, I'll guarantee you Mrs. JCyclonee would have a different last name. Actually, I would have almost certainly been safer driving at 9 than 17 when I started to rebel.

You saying you had to settle for your wife? You gotta hope the Mrs is not on CF.

We just received a Christmas gift basket full of peanut brittle and cookies from Wells Fargo. Do you think we're safe to eat it, or do you think we'll get charged for it?

Was going to donate blood after work. Naturally I can't get out of work on time. Silly me for thinking that I should actually get out of work at a normal time.

Had to burn some vacation, so I took days off last Friday and today. Ended up working from home Friday daytime, Saturday night, Sunday night, and all day today. :(

My family does a gift exchange each Christmas. 20 dollar limit.

Women get women gifts
Men get men's
Or you can do an either or

Being the youngest and not like most of the guys in my family I usually put something in the either pile. Last year a blue tooth speaker.

ANy ideas for this year for either the men's gift exchange or the either? Most of the guys exchange is just tools, wrenches, straps. I try to give something that I wouldn't mind so I can just go after that if I want.
