***Iowa postgame thread***

Well Fran did change his starters with less experienced guys, so I guess he should get credit for that. Tyler Cook didn't even play and he's better than any post we have. We can't get a Niang again, but we better hope the transfer/or juco market is good for us this spring or....nevermind,I don't want to think about it. I just want to see this team play more efficiently first.

I've seen some, but it seems like they revert to the same old same old when things get tight. The good news is that we have two games in the next three weeks (and those aren't games that we need huge prep for either). Never underestimate the power of a really embarrassing loss to really wake kids up. Gonzaga was a loss, but wasn't embarrassing in any way, as we caught a top ten team on a hot shooting night and still almost got them. Cincy was more disappointing, but still not what I'd call embarrassing. This one was. This was an ice cold bucket of water to the face that you just can't ignore. As I said last night, this will knock the cocky right out of you.

Hopefully

That was a different era. And I don't hate Monte but I know that he wanted to leave after last year 100%. If he would have even had 2nd round sniffs he would probably be gone right now.

And Hoiberg is the guy that stayed with ISU when he could have gone to AZ. Hoiberg is the guy that wanted to come coach here when JP gave the job to GMac and he still came back again after GMac couldn't hack it. You can say waht you want about Fred but the guy has bled Cardinal & Gold and you never know he might again some day when we need it the most.

I think you are getting your info from a very biased source. It reads a lot like someone's agenda.

As for Fred coming back here. He will be a college coach again soon enough. But it won't be here.

I highly doubt Fred coaches again in the college ranks. And I even more highly doubt he coaches anywhere in college at a place that isn't ISU.

Does anyone else have the same feeling they used to have after every McDermott game when he coached here

I agree when I was watching the game last night I was thinking this is the Greg McDoormat McDermott era all over again.......

I dont know if steve prohm is smart enough to get an offense where these guys can score enough points to even break even in conference play.........

Sorry but this team SUCKS MEGA

Terrible, terrible game. I get the feeling we walked in thinking we were going to roll them.

IVe been watching for 35 years, and I have yet to see a season end in December. Hopefully the guys use this to reassess, circle the wagons and get back to work.

You should have been around for the Glen Anderson/Ken Trickey and Lynn Nance regimes...Those seasons ended right after we Lost to both Drake and Iowa.....usually around mid december

Why does Holden start? I'm not even sure if Fred would let him see the floor due to extreme offensive inefficiency.

I don't think he hated coaching/recruiting as much as specifically he didn't like coaching here. The story that was used was a good way to get out of here though.

Like I said, I think he goes back to college sooner rather than later. And probably at a school we play often.

But running his mouth may impact his draft stock.

Have you watched the NBA, ever? I'm pretty sure being able to run your mouth is a prerequisite to enter the league. Something tells me NBA GMs won't give the slightest **** about some comment he made after a frustrating loss that wasn't even remotely offensive.

I will get blasted for this post but, I'm not going to blame Prohm for this and I am certainly not going to call out individual players. We have a Team problem. It's on the players but, it's on them as a whole. It's time for this team to fully "buy in" to coach Prohm and his system!! No more "street ball offence" and half-hearted commitment to defence. When this team plays Prohm ball, they are a good (not great) team, when they play player ball (hero ball) they are not good at all.. Time to have a great 3-4 months of basketball!!

With that said Prohm can make some changes to help things along, Start NWB and play Young and Jackson more. Our best run came with the bench guys in, Hands down

So all you "fans" in complete melt down that want Prohm fired, I am happy to save you the hassle of going to the games and take any unwanted tickets.

I think not getting Malou and Lard really hurt this team as well. Holden should not be on the court. He is doing nothing but fouling.

Prohm's offense or lack of reminds me of McD. It works fine against bottom of the barrel teams, but not against teams that play any kind of defense

Jackson should not be playing more

The brain busters getting thrown around on this thread are solid gold! Seriously, take a deep breath and relax. Come March we may very well being talking about how getting punked on our rivals floor is what turned the corner for this team. A lot of our offensive woes are correctable if the guys are willing to buy in. Tweek number 1 needs to be moving Naz to the bench and giving the start to Babb. So far this year, when Naz and Holden are on the floor at the same time we are literally playing 3 on 5 on offense. Defenses are sagging on us and packing the driving lanes, so unless we get hot from 3 the dribble penetration isn't going to be there. Ideally Naz embraces the 6th man role and takes some of the pressure off of himself because he just looks tight and uncomfortable out there. Tweek number 2 needs to be getting Young more minutes. Out of all of our bigs, he has the highest offensive skill set and his presence will eventually help space the floor. One of my biggest frustrations last night in the 2nd half was that Young had his guy pinned several times and we didn't throw the ball in. That's a problem. If we aren't going to show any kind of an effort to get the ball inside we are a really easy team to defend.

I really can't point the finger at Prohm. His post game comments told me everything I need to know on how our players handled the game plan. To even hint at him being on the hot seat is beyond idiotic.
