***Iowa postgame thread***

ISU has enough talent to be really good, but the offense at times seems pretty lackluster. When it's not their day, the ball movement is pretty bad - people just seem to not want to make the extra pass. They also miss some shots, some easy shots they should make.

Don't know what it is. One day they look awesome on defense, then the next they look like crap. I don't get it. Not sure if it's just settling or coaching, or what.

Don't try to reason with JSB. There's no point. JSB has been off the rails ever since Hoiberg left.

My posts tonight haven't been any more off the rails than 90% of them.

And I'm not pining for a coach that didn't like it here. That would be stupid.

I've felt since the beginning of the season with the exception of the Omaha game there is a mental clash between the run and gun Hoiball and the Prohmball. We've made excellent strides on defense but keep reverting between "me ball" and "team ball". The selfish me ball showed up again against the Hawks. We are so much better than this. Maybe these seniors just haven't bought into Prohm's system as much as we think. No energy and no ball movement.

As far as the main ailments for this team tonight, are we sure we know?........
Games like this make you question more than you should probably.
Said from day one if they finish fourth or fifth in Big12 I'd take it in a heartbeat. Got 'jsb'-ed.
We'll surely be much better (against even tougher teams) than we were tonight, but too many guesses/areas as to what is a priority to get better. Some of Hines's tweets/video clips/analysis are very telling.

I'm more disappointed with Monte's comments before the game that went to print. Obviously he's always going to be a guy with confidence, but who says that stuff for a rival to read: "need to send a message"....."not just beat them, but want to beat them badly" ..."got my own little surprise" (reference to Georges kiss last year). Not to mention the postgame one.
Made the mistake of reading tweets between Hawk fans and Cyclone fans about it. He is getting burnt at the stake by both fan bases. Made me feel worse than watching the game, which says a whole lot.

Don't want to get down on team or coaches, just wish them luck to get things going in a more optimistic direction. Such a downer for a pretty darn consistent winning program with some great guys that have been instrumental in making it so and have meant a lot to Cyclone Nation. Here's to being able to look back in February when we're winning and saying, "can you believe this is the same team that lost to Iowa?"

I think it's absolutely necessary to question CSP when the team has not shown improvement after this many games. The seniors looked bad last night. Those Seniors are a proud bunch...but talking confidently is one thing...proving it on the court consistently now is the hard part.

Monte showing immaturity and cockiness not a good sign when you just got beat by a bad team by 14.

The defense was equally as bad as the offense tonight.

Morris looks extremely overrated at this point in the season. Long isn't doing much. Jackson is definitely not hitting his stride as CW wrote. And Holden appears to be a waste of a scholarship

So you are saying Hoiball is me ball??

Hoiball died with the graduation of Georges and his ability to generate offense from the inside out taking the ball off the dribble and elite passing out of the post.

Defenses don't have to account for that anymore and we've looked much more one dimensional as a result in terms of spacing and shot selection.

Somebody has to start getting to the rim consistently in order for this team to be successful, or the perimeter shooting will be contested step backs and fade aways all year.

Prohm has said this team will go as far as Monte takes it. Getting to the rim is what he was talking about.

Burton was tearing it up at then end of the first half. They completely went away from him in second half

Coaching is questionable

Morris is not the leader of a team - he's a robin not a batman

Young needs to start

Have to get long and Thomas to come off screens for shots

I don't understand this teams lack of energy. We have a deep bench yet they are slowing it down to play a half court game. We don't have the I terror scoring to play half court all the time. We need to run down the court and put pressure on the defense. I just don't understand what Prohm is trying to do.

As far as the bigs. I don't know what Holden brings to the table right now. He doesn't box out, he can't score, and he can't defend anyone without fouling. At least Bowie can score some. And I was happy to see Young get in there and fight for rebounds. Those two need to be the rotation going forward with Holden coming in for foul trouble only.

I don't think it was a coincidence that they started to go on a run when Morris went out in the first half. Babb running the point seemed more effective last night.

prohm gave a good interview post game; just dont think he knows what he is doing. the transition defense was bad. hopefullt the rumor theory that they have not been working on offense much is true but seems doubtful. i think we just stink.

That's not a rumor, it's straight from Prohm's mouth. I'm pretty sure they've been working on it since the Cincinnati game though. Focusing on defense was a solid idea, and I think we'll be better for it later on. However, the defense didn't travel for that game anyway.

I think the team and staff will reassess how they are going about their business in a big way. We had a lot of adversity last year, and Coach found a way to pull them through it. I see no reason why he can't this year.

Working on defense didn't work either apparently. Iowa was beating them down the floor so easily and they let a bunch of freshman nobodies punk them.
Honestly if this is what they are going to do under Prohm, he won't last long. And I like the guy. But if they are struggling this year then think about next year.
