CFB Final 4

There needs to be objective, on-the-field ways for this to be determined.

Not a committee of old white dudes eating donuts around a table deciding.

If there does have to be a committee of old white dudes here's how it needs to work: every conference picks two old white dudes of their own choosing.

SEC and B10 are the only conferences that don't have to play by the rules. Both Alabama and Ohio State get to play for the title despite not even playing in their own conference championship. What a joke, TCU from a couple years ago is better than anyone this year besides Bama

What year are you talking about?

So now the committee chairman says they also look at how good a team is offensively and defensively and OU's defense just wasn't where it needed to be. Really?

I'm not saying OU should have gotten in because they shouldn't, but he's saying that a team that can outscore everyone on the planet doesn't deserve to be in if their defense isn't up to snuff? If so, the Big 12 had better change their entire brand of football.

Also, in the B1G title game last night, there was 69 points scored. Wisky who is supposed to have such a great defense gave up 38 pts.

If OU learned anything this year, it should be to go with the easiest possible non-conf schedule next year. Get out of the OSU game, just buy three easy wins, win the B12 and they're golden.

Not to mention that TCU was fantastic defensively so clearly it didn't matter that much when they dropped them from 3 to 6.

WI gave up a rare amount of points. OU once gave up 800 yards in a game this year...unless they were undefeated or something any team that gives up 800 yards of offense should not be in the conversation.

Outside or Rutgers, who is by far the worst team in either conference, there's basically no difference between the bottom of the Pac 12 North and the Big 10 East. That's what I've just shown. Washington didn't play UCLA.

I almost have the Sagarin rankings memorized, no need to update me. I'm saying I'd rather my Cyclones take their chances lined up against a slow 60ish Sagarin team with comparable personel than a 60ish Sagarin team that has crazy speed. UCLA's best game is a lot better than Indiana's best game because UCLA has a ton more talent. That's true even if their computer metrics are similar.

This committee guy is making an AWESOME case for TCU two years ago to be in the playoff.

Only one loss and it was on the road by two points to a top 10 team? In. Oh wait, that means drop them 3 spots.

Yeah, but they only beat ISU by 50 pts in their final game while kneeling down in their final 2 possessions because they have a little class, but that doesn't matter. That will drop you 3 spots every time. What a joke this system is.

I hope this system implodes, and ESPN too (which they are well on their way already).

This is why people voted for Trump.

Institutions wrapped in the "majesty of democracy" are really nothing more than cash grabs for the connected few and the plutocracy around them.

Those who point this out, are either ostracized or bribed into it.

Pretty much analogous to...

"Objective playoff committee" really means "making sure our TV partners have the biggest draws and the blue bloods stay on top through shifting criteria."

It was never about merit.

This is the kind of thing that drives people to madness/any alternative.

They could, but the committee has shown they're not exactly consistent from year to year so doing that probably won't help them in the slightest.

A small committee is a horrible format. The BCS ranking (the ranking, not 2 team playoff) was 100000000000x better even if it came up with the same 4 every year. It's not necessarily the selections, but the complete and utter nonsense criteria they come out with every year that changes by the week.

I can live with this top 4 and see how the BCS formula would likely have come to the same conclusion. I can't live with them telling me what a fantastic clear top 4 team TCU from 2 years ago would have been when 2 years ago they dropped TCU from 3 to 6.

Did the committee ever think that maybe Penn State is just that good that they could put up 38 pts on Wisky? Penn State has been playing better football than Ohio State for quite a while now, but that doesn't matter. Ohio State was playing great back in September when they beat OU, that's all that matters.

OSU should have lost to Michigan State and Michigan down the stretch, while Penn State was blowing everyone out. But that doesn't matter.

Being awesome on defense matters this year, didn't matter two years ago.

13 data points not required this year, required two years ago.

Having your only loss to a top ten team matters this year, didn't matter two years ago.

Not playing in a CCG drops you 1 spot in rankings, drops you 3 spots two years ago.

Committee gonna come out with whatever brand new horse**** validates their decision every year.

While Penn State fans clearly have the right to be angry (they should be thankful they were not given the death penalty) Ohio state is clearly a top four team.

Penn state, Wisconsin and Michigan are all better than Clemson and Washington. Clemson has no defense and lucked out multiple times this year (thanks a lot NC state kicker).

This is the year a 6-8 team playoff was needed

MSU goes to OT and they have at least a 50/50 shot because they were clearly outplaying Ohio State down the stretch.

Michigan got homered, not just in OT, the PI calls in the first quarter were ridiculously Buckeye calls.

OSU has not been playing well lately at all. They were LUCKY to not have to play last night. That was a huge break for them. It wasn't such a huge break for TCU a couple years ago.

I'd say a year the #6 team finishes #2 in the AP poll would have been the best year for an 8 team playoff.

Short of Alabama getting blown out in the Peach Bowl I can't imagine any scenario where the left out Big Ten teams finish #2. The left out Big 12 team was clearly the only way any rational person could vote their #2 vote that year.

Wow, B1G homer much? Yeah, 4 teams from the B1G are all better than Clemson and Washington. Whatever.
