Yup. There are classes for significant others and what not that enjoy flying but don't want to get their certificate that teach them how to land and what not so if the pilot becomes incapacitated they can save themselves.

Reading some of those names there's no way those people are potential donors or even connections to meet potential donors.
I don't like Leath much at all, but is he not allowed to take potential donors in the plane? Or is more that they are friends disguised as potential donors?
Or is it because they happen to have ties to certain types of businesses/organizations?
I don't know **** about how this should actually work, but it sure seems like Leath is using his position to get all of these extra perks off of ISU. I'm sure one of his big duties is to get donations for the university, but he seems to be way more comfortable operating in the gray areas that I would be.
I've also come to the conclusion that only suckers work for 40 hours/week for the man, so I think that makes most of us the dumb ones.

This is more interesting to me. Obviously, Leath's boss and the Executive Director of the Board of Regents, who should be investigating Leath's corrupt behavior, have decided they're going to justify it by telling the world how great he's been for ISU. They're all corrupt!!
PS. Leath is getting credit for ISU's massive enrollment increase, but he had absolutely nothing to do with it!

Leath was spotted on a commercial flight to Dallas last Sunday morning. Of course, he sat in 1st class. Nevertheless, I would have loved to see him take his shoes off and go through security just like the rest of us peasants.
You are comparing apples to oranges. The FAA does not require a copilot. The universities insurances does require one of the university pilots to be his second in command when flying a university plane.
"is helping Leath make contacts with potential donors." That's my favorite quote from the University. It basically says - yeah he was just hunting.
I would be interested to see the number of donations both in quantity and dollars that come from those not associated with the university.

This is exactly how it works. He got too comfortable. He could have continued if he knew how to play the game the right way instead of getting sloppy. Then he came up with excuses that only a 5 year old would buy, further digging the hole.
