Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

A certain poster in the cave would say it's a conspiracy and the Goverment controls the Internet and won't let you post it.

I was there. I saw it. True story bro!

BTW, I did channel my 1980's me and drove really fast when I could. I was jacked up on coffee and frustrated as hell by the construction and kinda over compensated when I had the chance to drive fast. Did keep it under 90 though. And the radio was playin' good rock so that helped.

Working on some massive reports last night and Friday night. Finally got done with those and then got sidetracked into getting some Hawk fans riled up. Now back to work emails. The joys of being a salaried worker (not that you would know about that anymore).

I opened this thread, and for some reason, my first thought was "Isn't this Pants' last night before flying out?"

Then "One Night in Bangkok" popped into my head. Now probably stuck for a good 5-6 hours. *sigh*

Is it really better when teens can drive themselves? It just seems like much more worry for me. But I wouldn't have to chauffeur to 6:20a volleyball practice.

Things are really ramping up with school starting Thursday. Need to be 3 places at once on Tuesday, 2 places on Thursday. Three kids in school, two kids in three sports at the same time (volleyball, volleyball, softball). I have not even mentioned extra curricular activities to the 5yr old yet. Not sure I am up for more chaos.

been offline much of the weekend. Yes, tickly throat did turn into a mild cold - mostly coughing. At night, when I want to sleep. But no sore throat so I'll take it. This next several days of meetings with vendor at work are going to be the epitome of that "the Lord is testing me" gif.

Last volleyball game tonight. Then we go to kickball in a couple weeks. Which is on Wednesday nights and I just realized will sometimes conflict with ISU volleyball. Sad face. Looks like we don't really hit full Wed/Sat schedule until late Oct which will be about the end of kickball.

It is better. Although my oldest turns 16 today and driving wherever concerns me more. Well time to wake up sleeping beauty and go get his license.

Driving to school stuff doesn't concern me too much (county road, small town) but if she stays with the same softball program I can't see sending her to DSM multiple nights a week on her own once she is 16. Thankfully we have almost 3yrs yet.

Pants's joke may come back to haunt him. He might want to keep his route through the Midwest secret or there could be some basketball message board folks chasing him with pitchforks and tar.

He'll be going into my poster protection program here in Minnesota. He'll probably change his CF name. I typically recommend that. I changed mine after having to flee Cyclone Report. I can also offer him a cover job in the sleep clinic I am thinking of opening. Need to continue the research into how little sleep one can get and still function and he has some experience with this.

We'll also likely want to dye Reilly's fur a pitch black as part of going incognito. It would also be a subtle homage to the scifi movie.

A couple of years ago I was driving up to meet my son at his boy scout camp. It was 80 degrees, sunny, I was driving a little too fast, had sun glasses on and was listening to Van Halen. It felt like I was a teenager again. I stopped at a rest stop, got out of the car, had a back spasm and fell to one knee.

Also, having been up in lake country this weekend, I can confirm that Highway 10 would have only been marginally better as you are forced to slow down in Royalton and spend way too much time looking at the silly Treasure City sign.

Buddy who lives in Alexandria was telling us we could take hwy such and such and then this and that to get to the Twin Cities. Ah, get lost and then get stuck in traffic? Figured I'd stick to the known congestion of I-94 since I figured everything would suck and I did get to drive 85 on two short stretches. Also gave me an excuse to text obscene things about MnDOT to my friends after i got home. :)

Wait til your kids are older. They will lose more stuff than you can imagine.

My wife is a clean freak, she thinks there is a better way quite often, so she will move her locations for stuff periodically, well mostly my stuff. I've gotten phone calls from people asking me about the bill I owe, turns out wife made a new location for some of my bills and during harvest would "file" these before I even saw them. Couple that with not the best memory and it makes a lot of extra work for me.
Same thing happens to me. My wife likes to re-organize stuff pretty regularly. She tells me the new location of the stuff but I can't ever remember. I then ask her and get the response, "I told you where it was, don't you remember or weren't you listening?"

Good luck. I'm trying to decide if I'm more so looking forward to or dreading this event in about 8 months.

He should probably take the route through Canada. Maybe he can take 94 for the last part of the route so that he can have some time to appreciate Central Minnesota and Stearns County Syndrome.

Here is the highlight of our weekend.

We were riding on the friend's pontoon and listening to the radio. The song "Break My Stride" came on. Mrs. JCyclonee started singing along, "Ain't nothing going to break-a-my spine." She was sitting between me and the friend's wife. We both started laughing. She just looked at us and said, "Uh-oh. Those aren't the right lyrics are they?"

She's been singing the wrong lyrics for over 30 years.

When you think about it the Lard situation is exactly like Malou.
Everyone had their hopes up right until the last second and then had them dashed.
