I understand this.
It's possible something about this was already linked in this thread, but I just noticed a couple of articles earlier today.
BYU could be left out due to 'compromise'
Read the article. How awkward would it be to add 3 teams? BYU, Cincy & Houston?

ESPN is not going to buy Texas out to then let Fox profit off of them. It is not that complex. DUDE.
Explain how Fox is going to profit off ESPN? FOX will profit if FOX makes a smart TV rights purchase if Texas happens to be in the conference or not.
This really isn't complex. If the LHN isn't profitable by 2021, ESPN can avoid $14M of annual operating expenses over the final 10 years of the contract. Plus ESPN will be able to negotiate a discount of the remaining rights fee. It's a no brainer for ESPN if they can save $175M-$200M.
Just curious what is your degree in.
LHN for ESPN as all about T3 control and preventing UT from leaving the B12. At $15M/yr, ESPN and UT both knew LHN would likely never be profitable. In ESPN's eyes, LHN saved ESPN money by not having to pay as much to another conference that UT would defect to, namely the P12. And this was all to ISU's benefit.
Didn't know there were that many groups, but it looks like they have found a common cause. The comparison to Baylor could do some damage to BYU's candidacy. First, the comparison itself, which could cause second thoughts. But, second, it points out Baylor has recently adjusted its language to be more inclusive. That, in turns begs the question of whether BYU would be willing to do likewise. Even if they were, would they get the opportunity to prove it?25 LGBT groups send letter to Big 12 urging it to shun BYU:

I've been hearing more and more about howI hope all other schools veto a Houston addition. Unless we get s guarantee from TV networks on the value the Houston market would add.
Almost seems as though this thread is getting rerouted to a political one.Didn't know there were that many groups, but it looks like they have found a common cause. As the article states, it only take 3 "no" votes to prevent a school from being added. This may just cast enough doubt to garner those 3 votes, which would open the door for some other school.
"Your views don't align with our views so we don't think you should join an Athletic Conference that we have nothing to do with."
ESPN is not going to let Fox profit off of TEXAS . That is what they would be doing by buying them out to allow them to go to Pac 12 or Big 10. Future profits are the consideration in any decision.
I have a B.S. in Math and a M.S. in. Economics and Statistics. I am also an Actuary.
I just don't see BYU getting in. The situation at Baylor effectively killed their chances.
Why? Penn State was a large secular school. Look what happened there.
Must have missed Penn States campaign to join a new conference back then.
