Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Personal advice: don't bother. It was well made, and had underlying purposes describing deep depression and such, but as a horror movie, there was nothing at all creepy about it.
Was just browsing over some movies I've watched that are still there on Netflix. Have you watched French zombie movie The Horde? That one is pretty awesome.

I trust you not to watch the dubbed version. Subtitled is always the way to go.

The Horde was surprisingly entertaining to me.

By the way, Pants. Have you watched Splinter? They don't have it on Netflix anymore, but they do on ShudderTV.

If that's the one with the kid from the tv show "Joey" then yeah, I think I saw it on Syfy a few years back. It's more or less based in a gas station, right?

How about Frankenstein's Army? That one was fun. I loved how creative the monsters were on that one. Watched Monsters? I know the sequel (Monsters: Dark Continent) got some bad reviews, but I thought it was somewhat interesting as well, just not as good as the original.

That is a lot of miles for Iowa. Do you drive a lot for work? Mine is mostly driving in DFW. I live 20 miles from work so I do that every day and takes me and hour and 15 minutes to get to Ft. Worth Zoo, Cowboys stadium, or the Arlington Ballpark (and still in DFW after over an hour drive in no traffic). This city will put a lot of miles on a car. I also take the ocassionally drive to Austin, TX (3 and a half hours) or Des Moines, IA (11 hours).

When we got the car, we were living in Omaha, and husband was commuting to Lincoln...approximately 50 miles one way. Did that for a year, then moved to where we didn't commute for a year. Then, moved to Lincoln, and I was driving to Omaha. If I remember correctly, it was 48 miles from driveway to parking lot. Do that roundtrip 5x a week for three years, it adds up. It's also done a roundtrip to Dallas, Austin, College Station, Tulsa/Stillwater, and a LOT of trips to DSM/Ames from Nebraska.

Monsters as in the really good foreign flick? I mean, I think it was English or something, but not American? If we're talking about the same movie, yes, and I loved it.

Just watched Homebound. Was pretty good for a comedy/horror. The comedy was much more subtle than, say, Shaun of the Dead, but it was a pretty enjoyable English film.

Watching The Babadook now. It's hard to watch. Not because it's scary, but because the kid is so ******* annoying I'm cheering for the Babadook to kill him.
Yea, That kid is real annoying. Overall I enjoyed the movie. I would actually like to watch it again at some point to try to put a few theories together that are out there.

GTO, I added Shudder to Roku. They have Cannibal Holocaust !!! I've always wanted to see that. They also have Cannibal Ferox, which I saw back in the 80's. Some good stuff on that channel.

Tons of free, mostly quality horror movies with many that are not on Netflix. You can thank me later.

By the way, Pants & KC, if you don't have a Roku device like Gr8 you can still watch Shudder on your tablet, phone, or laptop. There are two ways to watch: you can either pick a movie from their huge selection, or watch ShudderTV (which is pretty much just like a 24 hour TV channel where you just watch whichever movie they're showing at the time). Right now they're playing Rites of Spring.

If you decide to browse, just sort by "most reviewed" and that should give you the best ones. Trust me, you'll have horror movies for months.

Monsters with the giant aliens that would suck the electricity from everything nearby.

I could never watch Cannibal Holocaust knowing the animals were actually being killed in it. That's like, the original gore porn movie, I think.

Is it free?

They have Tucker and Dale vs Evil. It's more of a horror comedy but if you haven't seen it you must.

I think any horror movie fan should be required to watch Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. It covers SO many horror movie tropes, but is genuinely well made at the same time. And as a bonus, isn't one of the main dudes the guy from Firefly?
