Solomon Young is a hidden gem

Its possible to grow in your twenties especially for Young. If these guys are exercising and eating right no reason to think they still can't be growing. Admittedly I am no expert but I know I was still growing in my last year of college.

Didnt Wes Johnson grow like 7 inches right around when he went to college? Or is my memory completely making that up?

I did, he said what he actually measured in at and you responded what they are listed at may not mean much

And that's exactly what I mean. You are making it all about Young. I said "they". The listed heights may be spot-on or they may be exaggerated but using them as gospel just doesn't work.

As far as Young, who measured him? How do we know that wasn't exaggerated or fudged?

I'm not, nor have I, said he isn't 6'-7.5". He very well may be.

If you've looked at what Iowa State players have measured in at recently in other situations like camps, combine, etc. they've all been very accurate compared to what they were listed at in Ames. Niang was listed at 6'7 here originally, got bumped up to 6'8 after his sophomore year and measured in at 6'8 at all the camps he went to and 6'8.5 at the combine. Kane was a half inch taller at the combine than he was listed here too. Monte got bumped to up 6'3 after his sophomore year and that's what he measured in at for the Pan Am Team

@Cade4ISU He's more 6-7.5, but we'll always round up. Still measured bigger than the 6-6 we had him at as a signee.

Absolutely. Some notable examples -

Anthony Davis - grew three inches from 6'7 to 6'10 between the ages of 17 and 19.
Giannis Antetokoumpo - 6'9 at age 18, now 6'11 at age 21.

And I only use those two as examples because that's how good I believe Solomon Young is going to be. It's high time that we expect more of our freshmen. :jimlad:

He's going to get minutes this year. He has potential to be a big part of Prohm's foundation for the next 4 years.

Hines interview with Solomon. After Prohm's recent comments I'm starting to buy into him contributing this year.

Oh man, KU refs are going to have a field day. They hate when opposing teams hustle.

“He’s somebody that’s not going to let the person he’s guarding outplay him,” ISU sophomore and Young’s Capital City League teammate, Nick Weiler-Babb, said.
“He’s just going to dig in. If you tell him to get a stop, he’s going to get a stop. If we tell him to go get this rebound, he’s going to get it. He has the potential in him to be a great player.”

The fact that everyone originally recruiting him cooled down on him when they thought he would stay at 6'6" (and now he's a skilled, legit 6'8" PF) means he could be the steal of this class. I know it's only CCL, but he looks the part for sure.

Now I need Lard to measure out at 6'10". I've seen him listed at 6'8", 6'9", and 6'10" on different articles so I wonder what he'll measure when he makes it to campus.

With those measurements he's probably a legit 6'6

Wonder how J Long is doing? I know it's super early in his Isu career but we haven't really heard much of him this summer in Cap league or otherwise..I'm a little surprised in that he's physically there already and was kinda known for being a real good defender..Just curious if anyone has heard anything on h ow he is doing..Guess he is 18 and has long ways to go.

It's something in the water in Ames.
