Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

I went to my nephew's wedding in Greenville, MS this past weekend. It was roughly a 10 hour drive. It was my first time in MS and I wasn't sure what to expect. My observations:

- There is a lot of rice grown in northeast Arkansas
- Mississippi may actually challenge Illinois for flattest state in the nation
- If there is a nice part of Memphis, I did not see it (disclaimer - I hear the east part is nice, but I did not make it there)
- Google Maps really sucks in certain parts of Mississippi
- There are no fences between people's fields (The farmer in me thought this was weird. It actually took me about 30 miles to figure out why things looked off.)
- Jim Henson was from there
- There was an unexpected amount of soccer fans there watching the USMNT with us on Saturday
- The Mormon wedding ceremony felt like it was being ad-libbed. It wasn't in a temple since only Mormons are allowed, so it could have just been really informal. I dunno.
- It's sorta scary to cross the Mississippi River on a two lane road that has pot-holes and numerous patches.
- Seriously, Google maps really sucks in parts of Mississippi
- People litter. A lot. Openly. I had three separate vehicles just open their window and throw **** out.
- A Honda Pilot becomes a bug magnet near Joplin, MO
- When you're on a 4-lane road, it is apparently customary for someone to pull out in front of someone regardless if the other lane is open. It happened every single time from the time I left Arkansas until I returned into Arkansas.

Holy cats my internet is slooow tonight.

Thunderstorm rolled thru got just under an inch of rain. Broke the heat a little got in a 20 mile bike ride, then stopped for an ice cream cone (sorry Rev & Erik I almost did good but temptation won)

This NBA game is freakin physical, also so many missed travels.

KC hope your happy turtle video made your day go better, I thought it was pretty cute.

Thinking about going on an organized bike rid Sat. the one town was promoting their version of Margaritaville, if that was priced right it could be sag wagon time for me, or maybe finish ride then go back to that town for margaritas. :)

I don't think we've been perfect in our eating either. Though I chowed down some crab rangoons on Sunday. Yumm.

angry birds. It wasn't good. Then again I got a text about 2/3rds in. (being the only 2 in there I figured my phone would only bother me) that I had hail hit some fields. Flew up there and did my best to see in the dark. Not good, not good at all. Shredded the corn bad.

That's horrible.

Erik ran in a relay across Iowa in the same heat as N-Dubs, Velo & Boxster, and Rev & Z just watched... ;)

I didn't make her watch the tracking site as much as I interrupted her watching of other youtube videos.....

I did make her walk with me to the Mucky Duck though. She LOVES the red dragon on the flag. It's all she would talk about until her hamburger was done.

Also, GTO went to Washington state and didn't seem to get bitten by a sparkly vampire.

I'd imagine, with his love of horror movies, that getting bitten by a Twilight-style vampire has to be pretty close to being his worst nightmare.

I am not a horror movie girl, but even I think sparkly vampires is wrong.

Thinking of the Mucky Duck, their kids meal was great for us to share. I have had their fish and chips a long time ago and it was good. The owner's now put out a little play castle out front. The only sad part is to get to the slide you have to climb a rock wall.

I missed where CG was leaving today. Have a great vacation CG.

AC company called me and said they might get to me this afternoon instead of Wednesday and they'll call me about 20 minutes ahead of time if they can get there today. They wanted to know if that would work for me. I said I'll make it work.

Is the Mucky Duck the one on South Duff?

N dubs (first autocorrect inserted my last name for n dubs) I have 2 choices for hygienist a30 or so blonde from my alma mater or a mid 40s brunette best friends with a girl who I was a year behind from my first HS. Started with the blonde but got switched to the older one. I prefer her. More commonality. Seems a little less ditzy but more crazy, was my college preference (wife is not what I usually dated, probably why I married her). Both pleasant and attractive.

Although I will say when it comes to health want competency over attractiveness, and I prefer unattractive for hernia checks.

Yep. A favorite of mine.

Had a fish & chips there a while back (maybe a couple of years?) I was getting carry-out. Took 15+ minutes from order to out the door (and there were only 3 people in there). The food was excellent though. I may give it another shot...I love fish & chips.
