He was talking specifically about the helmet, which was specifically what the article was about....which was designed, developed, and is built in Iowa, and other than some initial issues with frame rate matching, has performed well.
The F-35 as a whole has issues, without a doubt...but arguably a ton of it was because congress thinks they're smarter than the military. As well, one can make an argument that our military is spec'ing the wrong planes. We're flying the wings off of our advanced fighters in the middle east when a turboprop bomb taxi like the Super Tucano would do the job (although Syria has been deploying Russian SAM systems lately). They want to mothball the A-10, the undisputed champion at what we used the most in Afghanistan and Iraq (close air support) and trying to replace it with the F-35 which isn't really good at CAS, and a helluva lot more expensive to fly doing CAS. The problem with the F-35 is that it was 'congress proofed'...it is built in enough places that congress will not let it die because they're more interested in bringing pork to their districts than doing the right thing.
If you want to rail about the contractors, I guess that's your right, but there's more than enough **** to go around. Congress keeps paying the stupid bills so they can keep getting elected, and the military is playing the game they need to to get funding. The whole system is effed. Congress writes lessons on screwing over the taxpayer compared to defense contractors.
Kiddos decorated a lemonade stand for a garage sale the wimmen have planned. Thinking the guys need to make a vodka stand about 10 feet down the street. Get this garage sale turnt.

Funny story about that, when you first cross the Red River to go from Oklahoma to Texas on I-35, the first sign you see is from an adult store which reads "Welcome to Texxxas". Second sign: "Don't mess with Texas" (a sign about not littering and state law).
