took a picture of a couple leaves I pulled off. That doesn't seem good. Anthracnose or tar spots is what seems to be on the Google. Which neither are usually deadly but can cause some leaf drop. They say 20-40% and I'm concerned because the tree hasn't really changed in probably three weeks. So I doubt it's going to have anywhere close to half its leaves being ok.

I know anthracnose in corn but not trees. It's a stalk rot that kills the flow of nutrients up to the leaves.

Isu has extension offices in every county, does wisky have anything like that? Otherwise go to a nursery and ask them what to do. If you only had the tree a few years, you can wait until next year and see what happens. If under a year, most trees I deal with have a 12 month replacement on them.

Response time isn't the best (often a couple of weeks) but this is a really good resource for identification of plant pathogens.

The nursery that does most of our work now, more expensive but is really getting the curb appeal nice, said he's seen maples lately just die like ours did and he is clueless why.

My maple tree started looking kindof lousy last summer. It's leafing out but still doesn't look all that great. It's about 15 years old and I believe it is a Queen Emerald Maple
