Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

From my experience the bigger the school the more competitions and more is put into it. When I was in it we traveled to DSM, DVN, and LaCross. It looks like now they also go to Omaha. There were usually two costume changes per show as well. Practice was usually 9-10 hours a week from September through March. Slightly implicating myself here but here are a couple of my favorites...

heh...spent most of my time trying to spot young WXman...

nope, no biking. Proper bike height means my feet can barely reach the ground. Dangerous. AND, a friend used clips for the first time and then when stopped at an intersection, she tipped over. Banged up her elbow/wrist pretty good (likely sprained) and she had to miss a week of kickball.

That's just a risk I can't take.
It's a risk WE can't afford you to take. Nobody wants more fake kickball updates if it can be helped.

One new job I had, I asked my secretary how far it was to another town so I'd ride bike. She told me 3-5 area or so. No consistent roads off this one. I got there and was tired, turned around and pedalled into a nasty cross wind that started. Got home exhausted. Found out it was 11 miles there. That 8 mile ride was 22.

Alternate reply:

So you claim it was 11 and she thought it was 3-5, huh?

We finished watching last week. Keep your expectations low.

I stopped watching a couple of years ago when the DVR kept missing it because of time pushbacks while I was watching TWD. Eventually, I'll binge the last few seasons.

My niece has played the violin for 3 years now. They have improved, but I keep looking for the pack of feral cats that are being attacked.
I played cello in 5th grade...I walked to school, lugging that sumbeach. I guess I'm glad I didn't choose the bass viol...
We moved to Florida and they didn't have grade school orchestras there, so I dropped cello but continued with piano. Then my piano teacher, who also played organ at our church, ran off with the lead tenor in the choir. They left behind two spouses and 7 kids. I was fine with quitting piano lessons after 6 years anyway...because I HATED recitals. I played for my own enjoyment for years until arthritis forced me to quit.

That's what you get for asking a woman to approximate distance.

All of our lives we're told that [--------------------------------------] is six inches. Whaddaya expect???

I just tried to attach an animated GIF to a post and got a message that remote file downloads are disabled

So we are back where we started. If the solution to the problems they are having while running is to stop running, the solution to your problems while sitting on the couch eating snacks watching TV is to stop watching TV, stop eating snacks and stop sitting on the couch.

GTO, it sounds like we won't be able to have Cheese-its in the house because Double-aught can't control himself.
I do not like Cheese-its but the kids love them. The extra toasty ones aren't too bad though.

Mrs. JCyclonee has this as a college drinking story. After a night out drinking one of her friend's called the next day. My wife asked her friend how she was doing. The response was, "I'm hungover and I just ate a whole box of Cheese-Its."

Played the organ, huh? Yes....she....did.

Just like we say you look younger than you are, you are to guess higher when speaking of that.
There's a lot of wisdom to this. How are we supposed to answer the question, "Does this dress make me look fat?"

Remember, when we are asked this question the only vision of the dress we're seeing is how the dress looks on the floor.
