And that's why I said we need to go to a White Helmet. It's looks terrible now because it's a red and yellow I State logo on a red helmet with a little yellow outline...lmao. How stupid can u get marketing and uniform people? Or black helmet...or gray helmet...anything but red with a red I state logo. My god. And it's a yellow color not gold.

And my opinion...the gold or yellow bball Unis are one of the ugliest Unis I've seen. But that's me.

White helmets would look alright with a dark red stenciled I-State logo. But it would still look like crap if it was the full multi-colored logo. Multi-colored logos on solid colored helmets look cheap. They always have and alway will, for any team.

I suggest that what ever uniform combinations will help draw highly rated recruits is the ones that are used. These kids are impressed when you say we have 5 different uniform combinations that we will be using this year.

NOTE: Just picked 5 as amount used, no particular reason.

The I-State logo just looks like crap on helmets, unless it is stenciled. And the sooner we all realize this, the better. The only logos in sports that look good on helmets are the one-color simple logos. Such as Iowa's, Texas', Oklahoma's, etc. IF we use the I State, even on the current helmets, its needs to be a one colored stencil to look good. The trim around the I-State is just horrific
This I can agree with. I dont like the beveled two-tone logo on the helmet. It looks good on the 50 yard line or embroidered small on jerseys, but not on the helmets.

I agree with this philosophy. I feel like having the four colors (even though two are intended to be highlight colors and two primary colors) has left the door open to a lot of variance in gear, especially retail apparel. My opinion is that our licensing folks must not be very disciplined in their enforcement of our visual identity. Not that it's an easy one to work with to begin with.

Side by side, the color variations of our fan gear stand out but watching tonight's MBB game the cardinal color in the lower bowl looked consistent and great. Agree that having official secondary colors is a bit odd and likely doesn't help, but I think nearly all schools have variations in fan gear. OU's crimson is all over the map, UCLA's gold (and blue) are all over the map. I really like the suggestion of Mizzou's gold, it's unique and not metallic, but watch a Mizzou game - their gold fan gear runs the entire gold/yellow spectrum.

I think they're solid as an alternate. I like that they say Cyclones instead of Iowa State.

I'm in that camp — it's maybe 3 or 4 times per season and has that CYCLONES variance. But I tend to like yellow more than average person, I guess. It's spectacular in the Gold Out setting.

I still am not sure about the football gold look, I'd have to see it as a complete head-to-toe (which requires a gold helmet).

This I could warm up to if used for special occasions. Perhaps we could call it the "STORMSHADOW" look?

Alabama v. Clemson in the championship proves it.

This is the most realistic given that it's not likely we will be changing shades of color (unfortunately). These would give us plenty of options, and I the Trice stripes are unique and meaningful to Iowa State. I could do without the yellow helmets and tops, but the white and grey would make up for it. This is essentially what Oklahoma State is doing with their uniforms.

This is exactly why we don't want to use any black whatsoever.... these have to be the ugliest uniforms I've ever seen!

Is JP ever going to allow gray or black anyway? I think we first need to be realistic in our expectations. I can't see JP changing our logo or our colors either, so as much as I'd love to see the 49er look, I know it ain't happening.

I think for starters we need to at least add a white and yellow helmet, and put some stripes down the middle of the helmet too, it looks a lot better.

I know Campbell mentioned possibly going with some black and gray alternates, but I just don't see JP and Leath approving that.

Clemson wears multiple different combinations. Obviously Alabama doesn't. We're not competing in the same class of recruits so it's silly to compare ISU to Alabama.

i would love to send in those uniforms to Iowa state because quite frankly I think that would be the type of brand we would want, but that isn't my work. I can always contact that person that makes them and ask them if they have tried to send them in.

These are far from the ugliest I've ever seen; just an example of black with red and gold trim looks like. This is also an alternate uni, btw.

Black is fine as long as you make the color accents really thin or small. That thick color stuff is horrible and tacky.
