are you sure there is legal authority there? i stopped by for the first time ever to say hello and was told i couldn't come in unless it was to pick him up.

her reasoning was she doesn't do background checks on the parents and doesn't want there there with other children. i want a new provider. too bad they are so hard to find.

did they tell you this when you initially met with them?

People auditioning for dance roles in musicals? Seems pretty logical to me.....

the LA outfit seems odd. The NYC one seems completely normal. Anyway, it was more just the silliness of that coming up as a suggestion for me to wear and it was completely not what I was expecting the results to be.

Is this an in home daycare and does she make you wait at the door to pick them up? Seems like a bad reason to not let you in.

On the other hand, does your wife usually do the drop off/pick up? Maybe she didn't feel comfortable with you..... That still sounds bad.

Dear lord some posters on cf are really pathetic (just got done looking at the "rank the coaching jobs" thread in the football section)

You say this like someone that's never experienced the oddity of EVERYTHING in LA.

i dont remember if it even came up

did you ask about their visitation policy?

I get that they don't want you showing up and taking all the kids on an impromptu field trip but you seeing/holding your child with the staff around seems pretty standard. With obvious requests like not during naps or the like. If you know any of the other parents you could ask them about it too.

I would have to ask my wife but at least in Kansas I believe you could not deny a parrent access to their child. We do not do background checks either (some Facebook stalking and what not) but met both parents before the kid started.

She was a licensed daycare provider in KS (Iowa does not require it) and had to have a list of who could pick the kids up. Not on the list. You don't get a kid.

The city water utilities department is attempting to fix a pretty large leak coming off of the water main next door. That's pretty entertaining. Not sure why they wouldn't just shut it off for a bit. Although, I guess if they shut it off that would allow contaminants to get into the line. I think I just answered my own question.
