Oh, and, the difference between men and women. Minon has a son who started at kirkwood, but lives at home because she lives like a half mile from there anyway. We get along pretty well, so we talk pretty openly. So, she's down there messing around on her phone and asks if I can print something for her, and I say sure, what do you need?
She starts rambling on about she can't figure out the bus schedule, and she starts showing me, and it's clear she's trying to figure out the bus schedule for her 18 YO son. I tell her that she should just tell him to handle his $***, and she's like "But I gotta figure this out, or else I'll have to drive him to school every day." and I said "no, you tell him he's 18, he's going to college, he can handle his own $***. I went to ISU when I was his same age, and I didn't live with my parents, so you know what, I had to handle my $***, he can handle his $***. I didn't call my mom and ask her to figure out my bus schedule, or drive me to school as an 18 year old man...I handled my own $***. Tell him to handle his $***." She says she can't, so I ask if she wants me to call him and tell him to handle his $***, because I can.
NOT the difference between men & women. The difference between you & her. No way in hell I'd be pampering my guys like that. They all got jobs as soon as they were old enough to drive, because they weren't driving unless they paid for gas, and they weren't driving MY car if I needed it, so they'd better be earning enough to purchase a car. We did cover insurance, unless they f'd up. Then we still covered them on our policy, but they paid the difference in the premium.
There are plenty of women who expect their children to grow up and be adults.
