I think if you're hyper competitive, you think your team will win outright. Only a chicken **** loser, as you put it, would cheat to achieve that.

This, by the way, is what Honor Before Victory actually means. I hate how people on here misconstrue it as meaning you're ok losing, as long as you did it the right way.

I know, right? It's like they think it means Honor Rather Than Victory.

I'm still too cheap for that.

Though I did actually get a raise for today.

...but just for today.

I supposedly should see a "raise" on my paycheck tomorrow, but never had a review. Hope I'm doing okay.

(Or :wunk: as the case may be)

PapaLew & I were looking at cheap beater cars for the boys and there was an ad for a car "...runs good. Small dunt in back bumper". Yes, DUNT.

We went to look at it & maybe test drive. When we got there, the entire back bumper was caved in, both taillights were broken, the trunk was being held down by the same rope that was keeping the bumper on the car.

We figured that small dunt meant a VERY LARGE DENT. We've used small dunt ever since for cars with extensive damage. :)

Perhaps dunt is half dent/half punt...as in he got punted in the rear end, but not too bad, so more like a dunt.

I received quite the good news today in the mail. The Department of Labor has changed some rules regarding fair pay for workers in the oilfield, backdated to May 2013. It turns out that most companies have been unfairly overworking their salaried employees (imagine that) and not paying them for it. They audited my former employer and found that they owed huge chunks of money to a lot of salaried employees, including me. My check was also in the envelope!

I was really starting to get in a money crunch, starting grad-school and being unemployed since February. Sometimes good things happen right when you need them.

haven't been in that thread for a while - are people legit trying to justify a coach of a 7th grade(ish) team cheating?
I wasn't going to go back there, but I did (just won't comment anymore). They feel it was a bigger risk for the coach to tell his team " Play hard, you got this--we are the best team in the game" then to say "If we lose this game and don't score a run, we are onto the semis. Let's lose this game on purpose!" Bit the bigger risk in the second is that it is AGAINST THE RULES. And you got caught. And when it came down to it your risk to reward payoff didn't work out so well.

Are you flying to Hawaii now too?

(Congrats)

It's the "win at any cost" attitude of a couple of the posters that really gets to me. I would never have wanted them coaching my kids. It's a game. If you have to cheat to win, it's not worth winning.
