Pants and KC, thanks for being reasonable in the softball thread. I don't care why this coach threw the game, even if it was to guarantee him a seed in the semis. What he did was against the rules. Why is okay to cheat? Because people do it at the college or pro level it is okay to do it with a team of 12yr olds? Play to win and let the chips fall where they may. Quit trying to justify that is is okay because he was just trying to secure a spot in the semis. Glad that karma all worked out against him and the people who were in on the decision (because it wasn't a singular decision)

Babcock is really good, Chocolate Shoppe is my fave though. Their version of the campanile does the song in a different order. And walk the drive above the women's dorms in the fall. Not to be pervy, the few of the lake and trees is gorgeous.

Or, do it to be pervy...I'm not gonna judge.

haven't been in that thread for a while - are people legit trying to justify a coach of a 7th grade(ish) team cheating?

I may not be a big fan of kids, but I still was one that played sports, and as cliche as it seems, I do believe at that age it's about learning more than it is winning or losing. Do you WANT to lose? Of course not. But there is quite a bit of education to be bad in a loss as well.

Well at least you had take in lunches. My folks made us always eat school lunch. Only time we ever got bag lunches was field trip days. Didn't matter what was served just eat your lunch.

Oh, after kindergarten or first grade, it was all school lunches (free, too, because we were so poor! You saps all paid for this kid to become a porker!)

It's still feels weird to me that it's called babcock since that was the name of a res hall at Wooster.

An I imagine it is. on my way back I walked up towards the observatory and that was gorgeous. And so was that large garden (can't remeber the name now). UW just has a really beautiful campus

it feels disloyal to ISU to say it, but it really is a beautiful campus.

Woo IS a single guy after all, isn't he?
Yep, hopefully that'll change this year, and maybe WDSM can give me a few pointers.

But I did feel kind of strange walking over in that area. Partially because I still don't feel like Wisconsin is my school yet, partially because I'm now a law student, and because I'm also a year older than I should be.

Did you fall into a time warp as a child or something?

pants, I'm getting sassy again. My friend went on about how he excels at math and logic and I just couldn't even. Haha. I'm still laughing.

I question your faulty logic in using WDSM for that reason....

Yeah, but Iowa state is also really high on that list, and honestly I prefer a campus like Iowa state over one like UW

Isn't he outside in Cowgirl's tree? If anyone should give me pointers about seeing in windows, I thought it would be him.

Nah, but that would have been cool. My reasons are much more boring. I was somewhat near the line for what year to start (my birthday's in may). My parents didn't think it would hurt me any to start late, and my mom and aunt are twins and my cousin is 10 months older than me. Therefore they kept me back so we wouldn't be compared as often and we'd each have our own year. (They could celebrate his graduation, and decision on where to go to college one year and then my graduation and decision on where to go the next)

Just got back from unpack the backpack night at school (they take all their supplies in so they don't have to bring them all the first day). Noticing another set of parents...is it really that hard to not eff with your phone for 30 minutes on a pretty important transition period for your child who is starting kindergarten? One set of parents, I was watching them (I kind of sat off to the side with littlest00 since it was somewhat crowded.) There was never a moment where neither the mom nor dad had their phone out, typing/scrolling on it (not both at same time, but one of them always did). I mean, I could maybe give a pass if the kid was in 6th grade or something and could handle themselves at this thing, but the kid was just standing there dazed, and of course, trying to get his mom's attention away from her phone.

My phone was out of my pocket twice during the whole thing...and if it weren't for people from work calling me who hadn't heard I would be gone from 5-7, it would have been out exactly zero times. I also didn't answer, just pulled out of my pocket to silence it. Mrs.00: Zero times.

00, were the parents under 40? I've noticed the younger you are the more attached to your phone you are. I know generalization so those of you who can leave your phone alone please forgive me. It also kind of shows that they are more concerned about themselves than their kid.

Yeah, I'm 39, and I'd guess they were younger than me...I presume most people with kindergartners are younger than me :embarrassed:

Yeah, that's why I kind of bugged me. I saw it at tee ball games and stuff and just kind of rolled my eyes, but with this, I wanted to be like "CAN'T YOU JUST BE HERE, NOW, FOR YOUR KID RIGHT NOW!"
