This reminded me of all the foods I have not eaten in years due to them not being available in the US (kind of makes me sad):
-Guavas (not those little bitter ones from Mexico, but the big - pink on the inside ones - from Central/South America)
-Maranon - cashew fruit
-Guanabana (soursop) - I've only found the canned variety at an Asian store
-Mavi Root
-Quenepas
-Fresh Tamarind (I can probably get this from the Indian store, but do miss tamarind candies)
-Sugar Canes (I could probably find that here) - I used to chew on these when younger.
-Nance fruit

I guess I have a list for next time I go back to Puerto Rico or Panama!

I remember seeing soursop at breakfast in Jamaica. Not sure I tried it - what does it taste like?

She's back!

I'm not all the way there. Just spent 10 minutes running a file for something and realized when it finished that I could have grabbed the already pulled file from somewhere else.

Picked up my new cross stitch last night and wondered why I had made such a dumb mistake the night before. Took out half of what I had done before realizing I had it upside down. To be fair, it looked very similar both directions save for that one "dumb" mistake.

DH came out of the shower asking why I was swearing so loudly.

ok, new guy. Need to tell us locale (though I can see that I suppose), year of graduation (and college if not ISU), major, area of work, relationship/kid/pet status, and how about your favorite things to do along with your stance on baby pineapples, narwhals, and lists.

Hmm - an icebreaker eh? Alright: Live in Dubuque now, graduated in '10 in Aerospace Eng (just finished Masters in Eng at Platteville though), currently work for offroad/forestry equipment where I do structural verification (FEA), married 5 years next week to a 2009 grad in child development, no kids, one cat, and I enjoy riding motorcycles, building cooler stereos (see pics below), and failing at karaoke.

I also have no stance on baby pineapples (never heard of that before), and while i'm familiar with the existence of narwhals, I am also impartial to them (or their choice of when to bacon).

With regards to lists, I like them. Insofar as their usefulness to present a lot of information in an organized manner... which leads me to think I should have made this post into a list... oh well.

Wait, I thought cashews in the shell were like poison ivy?...like the oil is an irritant like poison Ivy...so the fruit is okay, the oil inside the nut shell is bad, but the nut is okay if you roast it? This is all very confusing to a pasty white boy from Iowa. But, I'm learning, I guess.

very good. We graduated the same year. I only knew one aero guy but he was originally from IL.

Have you eaten at Vinny's yet? Is Dubuque where you are originally from?

Banjo: You originally from DBQ? I grew up outside of DBQ...although, if you graduated in '10 on the traditional plan, you're quite a bit younger than I.

Nope - originally from Freeport, IL, but went to HS in Gilbert, just north of Ames. And yes, have been to Vinny's multiple times - love it!

Who was the person from IL you knew in Aero? If he shared initials with our head FB coach (PR), then I believe I know who that is.

And, I just used a tube of caulk (well, actually construction adhesive in a caulk tube form) without my caulk gun. couldn't find it, didn't feel like looking longer, so I just brute forced it. Also a small job, so it wasn't that much needed. Not sure if I should be ashamed for not using the proper tool, or proud that I was able to improvise.

Mix of both sounds appropriate.

hey I grew up about 20 miles west of Freeport!

Boy, I think his first name was a P, but I can't remember for sure. He was from the Rockford area. Had him in honors English and he screwed up our group project. Big tall guy, curlyish hair. That's pretty much all I remember.

Yeah, that's kinda where I'm at. It was just putting on a strip of trim along the bottom of a door sill to cover up the joint where the tile butts up, so I wasn't going to pizz around looking for it for 20 minutes for a 2 minute job.

Interesting - there's a good chance I know that person. Small world! I routinely get back to that area as I have family in Dakota, Freeport, and Byron.

I found the graduation thingy, PR, sounds about right. Cool.

My favorite relatives live in the Dakota area.

I'm in a horrible position at work where I'm in between projects, everyone is super busy and I have next to nothing that needs to be done. Tried asking around, but nobody seems to need help with anything. Should be an interesting timesheet when I have to bill my hours somewhere. I've tried rearranging my office, cleaning up my email and I'm out of ideas. Any help?
