You might, and that's a perfectly reasonable opinion for you to have, considering your upbringing, but from a technical standpoint, holding that as a conclusion would be unsupported. The english spoken in the general american accent is closest to the way english should be spoken (and this is widely accepted and backed up by historical evidence), and thus, the way I wish my children to speak. Again, it's not chauvinistic, since it's not unfounded. I also didn't intend to imply the other accents were illegitimate, I was trying to convey that GTO has a very specific reason for the way he speaks english, and it's related to the other language he grew up speaking, so it's different (to me) than someone who grew up speaking english just in a different accent.

You're allowed to have a different opinion, that's fine, and you're allowed to speak however you wish...however, don't imply 'unfounded preference' on my part when it's actually founded, just not in a way that you like.
