back from golf. Could of been better but considering I hadn't played in awhile I'll take it. But golfing for me is more about the time I spend with one of my good friends that I don't see as often. 9 holes got me about 5,000 steps.

Everyone I work with is gonna gain so much weight. They've been going to to dinner and getting two meals and just eating everything in sight. It's like most people's first corporate card and I guess they just wanna go hog wild. I went down to the grocery store and have been cooking, then joining them out at the bars after. They are gonna get burned out IMO.

Also I wonder when it will get through that just because we have $X to spend on the day on food doesn't mean your goal is to try and get as close as humanly possible every day. They literally told us in our training that doing that will not be looked upon well by managers at the quarterly reviews.

They are all really nice people but some of them need to understand that this is real life now and you can only ask for forgiveness so many times. It's not like you can have a redo like you could when you failed a class... slow down. /end rant

Easy way to get a surplus on a budget. Don't spend what you're budgeted to unless you have to.

Preaching to the choir man... It's not like we just let 8000 people go or anything. And the thing is, we're provided Breakfast and Lunch during training. You don't need to spend the entire budget on one meal just because you technically can. It's not gonna look good on you. And they will definitely notice that receipt for your $50 dinner was at a bar and swiped at 2am.

At my company, the 'advice' that's given is that unless customers are with, for the most part, you act like you would with your own money...but if you're gone for a week, one 'splurge' meal is kind of expected. I don't know that anyone is ever really disciplined unless there's complete unethical stuff, but depending on your boss (whose budget it hits), it can make things awkward for you.

Just got to the rehersal. The groom is wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

I don't understand the treatment of the rehearsal any more. One of my nieces was getting married in the Catholic church she grew up in. Entire bridal party and her parents were 45 minutes late because because it took a long time for the women at the nail salon. So it was me and one of my sisters in law, who were there because we were lectors, making excuses to the priest for literally everyone. Then the groom's family arrived, and they hate Catholics, so they were walking around the church saying how all the stations of the cross were pagan and the church must still stink from frying fish. Finally introduced the dad, who is not quite as bad, to the priest, who was in his street clothes and heard all of this nonsense. So relieved when they finally showed up, like WTH, you want to leave that poor little priest with that bunch? Although I could tell he was trying to hold in the laughter.

My expenditure budget is tied directly to my end of year bonus. You can bet I'm usually eating a Wendy's salad or Panda Express when I'm out of town for work.

I just saw some guy selling Hawaiian shirts out of his front yard. Probably had 200.

I will mainly be a Sunday-Thursday road warrior so I will probably cook my own meals or small&cheap meals and maybe 1 or 2 "going out" meals a week. But I only spent $20 and $14 on my two "big" meals this week.

At my old job it was pretty much expected that you would spend $40-$60 a day on food.

Our budget is roughly that per meal so I can understand some want to get nice stuff but... (see next answer)

Exactly this! They told us what is factored in for our bonus and our expenditure's was the #2 thing! It's not rocket science people.

Speaking of travel and meals...when I was a co-op at a different company, we had to go to the headquarters of the company in chicago for training. 4 of us went...me (ISU junior), a recent grad of UI-Champaign-Urbana, an older (mid 40's) guy with 2 year drafting degree, but worked at a small company doing engineering work, so he qualified as an engineer at our company, and a college aged girl..don't remember her story. Was suggested, for simplicity, if we were eating together, get one bill, then note that in the expense report.

So first night, older guy pays, making a 'show' of it as if he were actually buying us young pups dinner  even though I knew he was a broke*** because of a divorce. It was a steak place, and UIC guy orders a steak, and the waitress asks how he wants it cooked...he looks at her like she's got a 3rd eye and says 'uhh, however you normally do?" We intervene so the waitress, who was looking uncomfortable telling this guy he is dumb (we didn't mind), and we get thru the meal with him explaining he usually orders like chicken fried steak or something.

The nights where I and the other girl payed went fairly smoothly, then the last night, it's UIC guy's night to pay. Gets the bill, and he's looking it over, looking it over, looking it over...finally says "how much do you tip at a place like this? It's like a normal, casual restaurant, but not a chain.

So this guy got thru college without ever ordering a steak at a restaurant, or eating at a place that had tips.

Work said today we aren't going to NYC for a 4 day conference which sucks. They did say we may make a trip to the UK to go visit one of my customers so that would be neat
