You need to think outside the "one person, one chair" box.
Girl in front is wondering if grandpa has something in his pocket or something.
Had a lovely fourth: parade in the morning with four little girls and their dad, then dinner with friends, aforementioned kid & grandkids, plus a surprise visit from a DIL & four more little(!) girls fresh from Okinawa (dad is now deployed, so they came back to Iowa for a month); gorged on lots of brats, potato salad, deviled eggs, sweet corn, topped off with rhubarb & pecan pies. Then sat back for the annual PapaLew contraband show...waaaay more fun than the big citywide ones.

Now back to reality. Looks like I will be heading to Phoenix this week, hopefully with PapaLew along. Step-mother passed away Friday night. She was in so much pain and so doped up on morphine, I can only consider it a blessing for her at this point. Daddy's not dealing with it well. One sister got there yesterday, middle sis arrives today, and we are waiting to find out the day of the funeral (Papalew only gets 3 days compassionate leave). Hopefully now we will be able to get Daddy to a place where he's got 24/7 care from people skilled in dealing with dementia.
our yard is dirt so that would be the worst picnic ever, haha. Think we'll pull out our outdoor canvasy chair things. And say we are eating on the couch/futon and not the table. Of course there is no way seven people can fit around the table for working doing a puzzle, so whatevs. Anybody know good drinks to go with tacos that are easy? Think I'm going to try making Spanish rice, but other Mexicany easy side dishes/food ideas are welcomed
Sorry to hear of your Stepmom, KC, although I hope it is a relief in some ways, and helps get your dad to a better place.

true, I just don't like it much. I have it, so people can make things with it if they want. But I probably don't have the things.

KC, my condolences on the passing of your step mother, good luck with both transitions with your Dad. (his wifes' passing and his move to a new place) Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, safe travels.
