With the whole Hoiberg Watch drama I think one thing that has been lost in all of this is the maturity the team is showing right now. If you follow several of them on twitter, you see nothing but tweets showing the work that they are putting in and the dedication they are showing to making next year count. I find that incredible considering the meltdown our fan base is having over all of this. While it would be so easy to pack it in and lose sight of what could be accomplished next year, they seem to have stuck together through this.

Separating emotion from what is going on right now cannot be easy for a bunch of 20 year olds (I'm guilty of this myself), but they sure seem to be handling everything well. I think that just speaks to the level of maturity these guys are at. I know I sure am proud they are cyclones and I think they are a great representation of our school. For that thank you boys!

Way too early for this. Let's see what happens after the fallout. But it could be a come to Jesus point kind of rallying cry for the team. Screw you Fred we did it without your I have eyes only for the NBA ***.

+1000

I have been thinking this for awhile now. I am sure they wish Fred the best but it has to hurt them in the gut a little too.

There aren't many more people that this directly affects more than them. Can't imagine how hard this is for them. They are certainly handling it better than I would be able to.

Speaking of the team, I'm not worried about next year in the sense that I think we have a bunch of guys that want to not only go out and win for each other but for a fan base they've embraced. But.... the 2016-17 year really worries me. And I'm not just referring to all the quality players that will graduate, but the 'type' of players that we lose. Guys that are proud to be Cyclones, love playing in Hilton, and often quoted as having 'the best coach', etc. Hopefully we'll still see that continue. But, frankly, who will be left to get the next batch of newcomers to buy into that same feeling? Thomas? Noskowiak? Babb? Thinking it will be a two year rebuilding process after next year.

As sorry as I feel for all of us fans, my heart breaks for the players. A coach is such an important part of their lives.

Pedro Cerrano style!

The players realize that with or without Hoiberg, they have a chance to do something special this year. Obviously everyone wants Hoiberg here. If he's not, a new coach can come in and show good recruits that if they come here they too can have success.

Players and coaches will come and go. The only constant is the magic and the fans.

Hilton will be thunderous to greet them back this year. If I know anything about Cyclone fans, we will always support the kids when the sky begins falling, like it always does...
