I guess it is fairly obvious why we have no players for 2016 now. I'm not sure why he told Diallo the truth and lied to Matt Thomas though.

Maybe he didn't. It's possible that Thomas's interpretation of what he was told wasn't accurate or Hines' report simply isn't true. Take stories based on unnamed sources with a big grain of salt, especially in as muddled a mess as this has become.

Kind of makes you wonder about our recruiting strategy that only targeted top 20 type recruits the last few years. Did Fred have his mind made up that he was gone after this year or next and knew his roster was pretty much set for that time and didn't see any reason to bother recruiting the three and four star, four year player type since he knew he would be gone any way?

So the job must be TJs. No way he leaves his job KNOWING that Fred is gone. No way an AD can dictate to a new(hopefully high level) head coach who his top assistant will be.

The "He told us he was coming back" was straight from Thomas' mouth. No sources involved.

We have been getting the screw-job for the last two months. Our program (coach) has been servicing the needs of the Chicago Bulls nearly the whole time. I stand with JP, and if he hires TJO, so be it. No matter who he hires, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I realize there are people here who will defend Fred, and think that we should just be thanking him, however with all of the behind the scenes crap that has gone on as he exits the door, I feel like I need to take a shower. Lost a lot of respect.

Sooooo...we badmouth Diallo because he didn't commit to us...but we take his word as if it were the bible.

Got it.

It was a DIRECT quote from Thomas in the DMR

I'd be more worried about this if some home grown football coach had just led us to 9 to 11 win football seasons several years in a row.

ISU basketball has been well above average with 4 coaches, average with 1 and below average with just one during most of my lifetime. The biggest thing is keeping this year's team together because it could be great.

Well this is why I give stock to what Matt said, he isn't an unnamed source. And he is a pretty smart guy so I doubt he misinterpreted anything.

Go back to the Romar thread where I said this was exactly what happened with Diallo and as big a reason as why Darren Williams did not keep his commitment, along with Fred is leaving and many of you said "That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read here".... Yeah, exactly.

Who's Darren Williams?

Except he wasn't upfront with people if he really planned on leaving

With people/fans no, but who knows what was discussed with Pollard? The guy rarely gets taken off guard. The Chizik thing he did, but I don't think the Fred thing is of any surprise to him.
