I'm not going to change my opinion of Fred due to the aforementioned article, as that doesn't necessarily mean that he was decided at that point. I'm taking it as an honest answer, and that there was at least some consideration of leaving at that time.

Well, the whole Hoiberg thing has been a vault pretty much hasn't it.

At least he did not lie to the kid just to get him to come here. I would say his integrity rose in my book.

No but after his surgery he DID tell his current players who have ALREADY committed to him and his university that he would be back and be their coach next year. So is it better that he was honest to strangers who have not made a commitment to him already?

I'm sure JP knew this all along too. It's probably why Matt A jumped and TJ was brought back in, Romar's comments, etc....

Yep...those who needed to know or who Fred cared for got the "heads up" to take care of themselves.

JP treats his coaches with respect and is upfront/honest...I wonder if Fred realizes HE could be treated like Thibs in a few years? (meaning, it's clear the bulls likely were whispering to Fred MONTHS ago)

Fred used ISU to his full advantage. Simple as that.

And we used him. It's a two way street just like most employer/employee relationships.

I think it's easy to see why Fred's recruiting was so bad recently though.

Fred was employed by ISU and has a fiduciary duty to do what is in the best interest of ISU. It is very clear now that is not what has been happening.

Good integrity for the player but he's basically been tanking recruiting at ISU for some time while still cashing a check.

If Hoiberg leaves I will have lost a great deal of admiration and respect both for he and Pollard. How can "being a head coach in the NBA since Day 1" have been Hoiberg's goal when at the exact same moment in time coaching at Iowa State was his "dream job"? Would he and Pollard just plain bold face lie to us?:

Did he treat ISU MBB with the same degree?
Completely fine with Fred leaving for the NBA, but at least be willing to be committed to the program the entire time.
