Random thoughts III

I considered going to this yesterday. I hadn't heard much about it (don't have tv) but very rarely has George Clooney disappointed me in a performance.

I have a hard time deciding on the actual target audience. A lot of the movie is grounded in the forward-thinking ideals of the Worlds Fair and Disney. It's not an easy concept to explain to kids, but at the same time, it's how kids think. It didn't start off very good (some playful banter schtick between Clooney and Robertson that had me rolling my eyes) but it got better once it got passed that.

Yeah, I'm away from it. I live in north Texas (just north of DFW). The lakes and rivers are at all time highs. In other counties, a few people had to be rescued by helicopter. The news said this morning that we've had rain 56 of the last 83 days and just about every day for like 4 weeks straight. Absolutely insane.

just crazy. I remember when the tornadoes hit a few weeks ago they had record rain with it - like 9 inches in the OKC area, but doesn't sound like it's stopped.

Must be a busy day at work for all of the RTers coming back from the holiday weekend.

I'm still off today, Mrs. traded working Monday for Tuesday this week, so it's me and the boys. Youngest is napping, oldest is watching Handy Manny.

Ran errands this morning, felt like a drunkard taking the kiddos to the Homebrew store...but it was actually not for booze...I have a keg of carbonated water in the beer fridge for sodastream sodas (uses less CO2 than the machine does), and the cheap picnic faucet I had keeps wearing out and leaking half a keg of water onto the basement carpet, so I'm biting the bullet and turning my basement fridge into a full up keg fridge with a tapper on the outside...but it'll just be for carbonated water.

Do you use your soda stream quite a bit? I have an unopened one just sitting around.

I'm selling my machine, but I use the syrup every day. I just have those old 5 gallon pop kegs in the fridge with just water, so I dispense carbonated water into the bottles or a mason jar and add syrup from there. (a pint mason jar is about .5 liter, so those small sodastream bottles)

Is anyone else pumped for the new Jurassic Park movie to come out? Like, I know it's probably not going to be good? But combine my love for the first movie, Spielberg directing this one and add in Chris Pratt as the lead and I'm actually starting to build expectations for it.

Houston, on the other hand, appears to be underwater at the moment.

My nieces are in Spring & The Woodlands...the one in Spring had to take several detours driving home last night...her hubby was frantic because their cell service was down. She made it home safely...

Tell them to work from home. No sense in driving around in those conditions.

True but his computer shenanigans lived on to create problems.

I mean, really, if you're going that route isn't it John Hammond that's the worst, since he had the dinosaurs made in the first place?

By the way, for those that haven't read the book, Hammond actually gets killed by a bunch of compys at the very end. He doesn't survive like in the movie.

Spoiler alert?
