Maybe others have read more, like I said in other posts, I haven't really read that much, but the impression I got was that there was a woman in New York who said something along the lines of that she was either starting to prefer, or was consciously switching to guys who, while not fat...weren't men's fitness magazine models with six pack abs and zero body fat, because guys with a dad bod were a lot more fun and less drama.
So, now that I started the discussion with no real information, I <sigh> actually had to read the fad info. The original article:

Washington post article:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...have-a-dad-bod-this-flow-chart-will-tell-you/
OK, so in the original article, the first 'why we love dad bod' is that dumb "because it makes me insecure"...then work on that, don't blame another persons' body for you not feeling good about your own (although, representing men, there's plenty that we do to women that the blame isn't primarily on the woman). The second "we want to be the cute one"...how dumb, it kinda relates back to #1....although, I will admit that a man who is prettier than his woman is a problem. Reasons 3 and 4, good points. Reason 5: not necessarily true, although it could be...but it could be that a man that has gotten to be 'overweight but not obese' by the time he's 22 might well keep that upward trajectory until he's 45, then you're married to Jabba the Hut...again, maybe not, I'm within 15 lbs of where I was in college...
And, in the WP article, essentially they're defining it as overweight, but not obese. So, technically, I'm at the very bottom of dad bod, and looking to get out of it in the next few weeks.
