Poor poor Chuck.

Well, it's not Chuck, I'll give you that.....

Yeaaahhh....that's my dad's name. And my mom has a gender-neutral name, not as common as some, but it's the female spelling.

The only verboten name because of a student (both of my parents were teachers at one point) was Mark. I would have been a Matthew, and that would have put six Matt/Matthews in my grade. Three Sara(h)'s as it was...and a boatload of Jenny/Jen/Jennifers.

Hey pants, OT question here, do you ever see Hawaii 5-0 being filmed?

I actually posted a pic on Facebook about a month ago because they were shooting on my street. I guess they went to my neighbors place (I live in a duplex) and were scouting for a location and wanted to use his place until my ***** landlord nixed it because she wanted a bunch of money for it.

I think they've wrapped for shooting at this point, but I've come across it three or four times. I live right down the street from the zoo and they usually use that parking lot for all of their trucks and stuff, so I can get a good idea of when they're in the area filming. Twice now I haven't been able to get into/out of my parking lot because they were filming right in front of my house.

Both of my boys have family related names for their middle names. I like that. I didn't want to give them family first names though.

My family has some names I'm not too fond of.

Vera
Eldred
Ronald
Leon
Leetha

Yep, Sarah and Jennifer were HUGE when I was a kid. Lots of Matts and Mikes too.

Not a lot of Jeffs, but enough.

Every time my dad would see the original Hawaii 5-0, he would search the scenery for anything he recognized from being there during WWII. And we would always tell him it has been decades and it has to be a lot different. Always wished I could have gotten him to go back.

That's cool, aside from the landlord being a *****. I don't watch much anymore, too many male characters.

Wtf Cowgirl. I thought you were using my name for your kid so you will always remember me after I stop stalking your house?

Hey. We're talking about names. Let's try to stay on topic.

both yours and Vike's names are on the list. This was pre-both of you though. But I was talking about girl names.

My internet addiction is like crack for my inner sloth. I need to get outside and clean up all of the hail induced vegetation debris. It's kind of a mess out there.

Boxster: Must sweep and bag.
Sloth: But newspaper
Boxster: Must cleanup.
Soth: But coffee.
Boxster: Must sweep up and rake!
Sloth: But internet.
Boxster: But mostly sunny and 66!
Sloth: But CF RT!!!
Boxster: **** off sloth!

cripes, I don't think we'll go to 8 or 9! Though now I want to know what your daughter's name is.

My daughter's name is Talia (first syllable similar to the "a" sound in Nadia).

It's not very common, but I have seen it a little more lately. Adrienne from "Rocky" is Talia Shire. Otherwise, if you're a Batman fan, Talia is the name of Ra's Al Ghul's daughter. No, I did not name her after either.

We were going to name her Malia (muh-lee-uh), but a friend of ours named her daughter Malina 6 months earlier. I ended up switching the first letter and annunciation and ended up with my daughter's name. I still like the name Malia quite a bit.

Even with our first, I was looking for meaning first then name/sound/initials ect....

I am not sure how much I trust some of those websites. A few of the girls names meant husband killer, or something else with a negative connotation.

Malia (or some variant of spelling) feels like it's one of the most coming female names over here. I had 6 employees that either had that name or had kids with that name.

Someone I know named their son Tyrion. At the time I had not watched GOT so I had no idea how to even pronounce it. I also had a friend have a young relative name their daughter Sansa. Another friend already had an Aria so wasn't thrilled with the rise in popularity. That is at least a name I can see outside of a fantasy tv show.

I have a fairly "common" name but my parents were 30 years ahead of the 'y' trend. I used to not like the spelling of my name because you could not find it on a key chain or any other "personalized" item. I like it now for its uniqueness. All our girls' names could be found on keychains, although 1 out of the 4 is not as common (but is trending up).

OT on the names. This week is teacher appreciation week at the schools. Volunteers are providing a meal tomorrow, what do you think I volunteered to bring? Dessert of course. Just made 4 dozen cookies and one big sugar cookie bar that will get frosted and cut. Only went through 1.5lbs of butter today. :)
