NEW Star Wars Teaser!!!!

I think I just threw up on my keyboard.

This looks like every bad thing about the prequels (anything Star Wars post 1983), Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (olddddddddddddddddddddddd Harrison Ford and a "next generation" nobody cares about), and Star Trek: Into Darkness (relentless, distracting, and damaging CONSTANT visual, plot, dialogue, and character references to superior originals that comes off like a bad fan-made film with no new ideas that ruins the iconography of the original)

So far Disney it's most likely rescuing the franchise from Episode I-III.

They aren't idiots, they know they could make even more money if the new movies are universally loved by hard core fans instead of dismissed. The original trilogy will be a cash cow for at least another 50 years, but if these are true hits they can be...wow at the $$$.

1. Just watch the original trilogy anyway...even if you never watch this.
2. From the looks of the trailers you will like these new movies a lot more if you watch the original trilogy.
3. Only watch episode I-III if you rate the original trilogy a 10/10 but are ok with being disappointed. If you just kind of like Star Wars or you can't stand the idea of being let down, there's no reason to watch them.

Gotta appeal to the Michael Bay generation, unfortunately. I can handle the barrage of computer generated sequences as long as the STORY & CHARACTERS are handled well.

If you are going to watch all 6 existing episodes, I recommend the following order.

Episode 4 - A New Hope (the original 1977 movie)
Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back
Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace
Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones
Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith
Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi


Watching it in order from 1 through 6 doesn't make any sense because things are revealed in the original trilogy (4,5, and 6) that are implied in the prequel trilogy.

The order I listed above makes episodes 1,2,and 3 and extended flashback to the origins of Anakin Skywalker and then everything wraps up with episode 6!

I've also heard of people omitting episode 1 altogether and just going 4,5,2,3,6. Apparently pretty much everything from episode 1 that is of importance to the plot is restated in episodes 2 or 3.

My complaints/worries are about the story/characters, though. :(

I swear to gawd if Dickie V or Chris Berman make a cameo in these movies I'm gonna throw myself off the Women's Memorial Bridge in to the MIghty Des Moines river.

You're able to judge this from a 1:50 minute trailer with 2 lines of dialogue?

Don't get me wrong, it could have those problems, but I think it'll be fine. It's not like the original trilogy doesn't have some issues, most of us just saw them when we were young and it didn't bother us as much. As with most things, its about balancing your expectations. This will never live up to the greatness of the original films that most of us have built up in our heads. So don't expect it to and enjoy it for what it is.

That's not a bad idea.

I'd tweak it even further:
Ep 4, if you rate it 5/10 or worse stop watching, otherwise proceed to Ep 5
Ep 5, if you rate these movies 9/10 or 10/10, proceed straight to Ep 6
Ep 2
Ep 3
Ep 6 you're done

Ep 1 really is the worst and, but people who are NUTS about 4-6 are going to find a lot to be massively disappointed about with 2 and 3 as well.

As I watched Abram's Star Trek reboots I just kept thinking how much more they felt like Star Wars than the prequels did in so many ways. This is a better progression for the series than what happened with I-III. Even if you just close your eyes and listen to the sound effects in his Star Trek movies they often sound more like Star Wars during action sequences than anything in STOTS, star trek movies or TNG.

You probably should just post this everywhere on the Internet right now. This is the crux of the issue. Also, a brother and sister make out in the first trilogy.

Must haves:
1. Jimmy Smits
2. Bobba Fett's mysterious mask is removed and he's some Native American looking dude with an Australian accent who doesn't really seem that mean

Once those bases are covered the rest just falls into place.

While others were raging about Jar Jar Binks I was WTF about turning the most mysterious cool bad@$$ villain in scifi/action history into someone with no mystery and no appeal whatsover. At least Jar Jar isn't in the good movies, now when we see Boba Fett you want to crack open a can of Fosters with him and maybe see if he wants to get some Applebee's or Olive Garden down at the strip mall.

I f'ing hate Kamino, too. And everyone that lives there including super whale/shark that just happened to surface while hunting exactly when Obi-Wan lands on the platform.
 
Speaking on behalf of casual Star Wars fans (i.e. normal people), this look like a fun movie. I loved the new Star Trek movies so bring more of that on.

Star Wars episode IV should be on everyone's must-watch list if they have not seen it. If you like IV then watch the others.
