NEW Star Wars Teaser!!!!

Star Wars 1977 is what inspired JJ Abrams to get into film making. He initially turned down the directing job for Episode VII knowing how insanely critical the fanbase is. He knows his legacy will be determined by the outcome of this film. I have confidence this latest installment of the franchise will at least surpass the standard of the prequels. If you have any doubts, rewatch his homage to Steven Spielberg: "Super 8." Abrams cares about character development. Lucas forgot its importance.

Must haves:
1. Jimmy Smits
2. Bobba Fett's mysterious mask is removed and he's some Native American looking dude with an Australian accent who doesn't really seem that mean

Once those bases are covered the rest just falls into place.

While others were raging about Jar Jar Binks I was WTF about turning the most mysterious cool bad@$$ villain in scifi/action history into someone with no mystery and no appeal whatsover. At least Jar Jar isn't in the good movies, now when we see Boba Fett you want to crack open a can of Fosters with him and maybe see if he wants to get some Applebee's or Olive Garden down at the strip mall.

HAHA, awesome, this is still what I tell everyone. Those thee movies should have been pretty dark, I mean you don't just become Darth Vader because you don't get along with your teacher. I still think it's too bad Lucas didn't give those three over to Christopher Nolan. I think he would have been able to do a decent job turning Anakin into Darth Vader.

JarJar was a mere blip on the **** ometer the way those stories were told.

Lucas just got so powerful that no one would tell him no. He had a grand vision of everything he wanted the Star Wars prequels to be, but he just didn't execute them. Now Abrams can translate the vision for Episode 7 into a real working movie.

Lucas screwed the franchise before he made episodes I-III.

I think by the time the prequels came out he had this notion that Star Wars was a kids movie franchise. Sure kids loved in back on the 70's and 80's, but it wasn't gear toward kids originally. But once the toy cash cow hit you can start to see the shift toward a kids focus, specifically beginning with Ewoks. Its a shame, cause the story of Vader should have been badass, not whiny.

Kasdan's return to $cr1pt duties cannot be understated as well. The story has undergone numerous revisions since Lucas handed it off to Disney. I'm hoping to find out if anything survived from the original outlines & Michael Arndt's draft.

[edit]: Mods can we PLEASE remove the ban on the word "$cr1pt??"

Reason I got into my laserdisc hobby...I've had perfect theatrical release Star Wars in high AV Quality for almost two decades now (sound quality is always great even compared to bluray, video quality is still quite good if you have the right equipment and calibration). I see the dozens of versions come and go, always with crap messed up...and I've just stuck with my deluxe edition laserdiscs straight throughout.

Plus I've found all sorts of interesting classic movies, 70s, 80s and 90s movies through it for cheap too.

I was just saying Boba Fett but it really did the same for Darth Vader too which is even worse. To be honest I can't even connect Darth Vader to Hayden Christensen...but for whatever reason Boba Fett was way cooler before I saw ep II and face palmed over it.

Jar Jar has no effect on IV, V and VI. Vader and Boba Fett are not as cool if you think about the prequels while watching them. The Emperor's back story was treated somewhat better than those two, he still seems scary and evil as *&%$ in context when you watch IV, V and VI.

Haha, My wife and I just had a conversation about laserdiscs the other day. We felt sorry for the people who got suckered into buying it when it first came out.

I remembered when I could check out laserdiscs from the library. Now I know where they all went.

McDiarmid carried those films. Palpatine deserves his own spinoff. The opera scene from Episode III is one of the prequel's redeemable moments.

So true, I got what you said, just still ticked about the way the Vader thing went I tend to get sidetracked talking about Star Wars. It was bad for Boba Fett too. Lucas had all these characters to really explore an give a good back story on, but just decided, "Ah, we'll show Anakin and Fett witness their parent's deaths, and all will be explained. He pretty much did the same with Luke, losing his Aunt and Uncle in the first one, but why wasn't Luke instantly evil then? JarJar was just a corn kernel in the shitfest that was I-III, compared to what could have been. Although, there were definitely huge hints of Jar Jar to come with the teddy bears running around and kicking *** in Return of the Jedi. I mean the Movie Ted was more believable than the Ewoks. It's not like IV - VI were perfect.

whew, yeah that is a doozy as well.

Back to watching II and III and skipping I...I think if you only know the cocky teen it makes it easier to suspend disbelief that Anikin turns evil. 1/3 of the prequels are the kid smiling and yelling yippeee. It's like they got 2/3 of the way through and remember they had to turn him evil...then had him slaughter some little kids just to make sure we got it.
