So you are saying the staff is recruiting players who haven't announced their transfer or been released? Not saying I don't mind them stretching the rules, but I don't think that's legal.....
He may not be saying that. He could just be reassuring us to be patient because based on past years' pattern, it is likely there will be additional high-quality transfers to be announced in the coming weeks. And the non-public information he referenced could just be under-the-radar contacts we have made with some of those top-tier transfers (already cleared to transfer, but haven't publicly announced their contact with ISU). I'm just speculating like everyone else, but don't jump to the conclusion we are making some "illegal" contact with undeclared transfers.

I'm not even concerned about illegal contact, I'm sure it does happen. I guess I'm ignorant to how the whole situation plays out. I'm wondering how the staff knows a player is transferring, without the player being released first and it becoming public knowledge? I'm sure they may have an idea of some guys being unhappy at their school, but how do you know for sure without it being official?

Does the player and/or his family let certain schools know he is leaving before he even notifies his current school? Are the player's former HS/AAU coaches involved? Does ISU coaching staff know there is a star player at "blank mid-major", then contact him to see if he is interested in transferring, even if he hasn't considered it?

I'm not alleging or speculating anything ISU or other schools are or are not doing. Just curious how Jeremy and Chris can say ISU is waiting for these transfers to become available. How do we know these players will end up becoming available? Complete guess? Hunch? We contact player? Player contacts us? Just because we have gotten players late in past years does not guarantee it will happen again this year, unless the staff does in fact have inside knowledge.

People talk. Players don't just decide after the season is over they are going to transfer, most have made up their mind well before the season is over that it's not a right fit long term

So if the player does know mid-season he is leaving, who exactly is he telling? And specifically how does the ISU staff know that he is going to transfer? Does the player/family/coaches contact ISU and tell them? Or does ISU hear from a guy, who heard from a guy, who heard from another guy, that the player is going to transfer?

I just know in the past ISU has been made aware of a player who will be coming available in the Transfer market well before it is announced or he was released from his scholarship. The details on how is goes down I'm not for sure.

Guess we'll see if ISU still has interest in JT from HS soon. Michigan kid so I'd expect Mann to take the lead if the staff does.

@BSnowScout: Justin Tillman was officially granted his release by VCU today....

Here nor there
Hopefully we can add at least 2 major contributors for next season. Next year is always the most important year, and given the window of opportunity, IMO you go all in to a certain extent. We will have some kind of dropoff for 16-17 no matter how many Nick Babb types we get. With no more waivers, that means 5th year, juco, or decommits to get help for 15-16. Former recruits like potentially Kyle Washington would have been nice back when we had Williams and were looking to add another immediate PT big (plus hopefully a guard), but Babb's commit makes it a number crunch.

I don't see his talent as a starter for us, but could be a big off the bench starting in 16-17.

They know due to emails, texts, Facebook, etc.

Yes, everyone does it including ISU
Teams don't actively recruit players that are on other teams but I am 100% certain they are tracking players and keeping track of certain players that they like if they were to become available. Some of them may be players they recruited out of high school that chose to go to other teams. Others are guys they have noticed when breaking down game film on teams. Some are players that contacts have pointed out to keep on the radar. I am sure there are grad assistants or some similar position that is assigned the task of keeping track of how much eligibility and expected grad times for a list of players. You don't need to be contacting these types of players, just keeping track of their situation just in case they were to become available.
