ISU's release regarding Darien Williams' release

Fred coming here is the same as Matt going there. Exactly the same. Maybe the difference is Fred originally took a pay cut to come here, and Matt likely didn't.

It is also the same as Otz coming back. Some people like to coach their favorite teams.

I didn't know ISU competed with the Timberwolves for recruits

Which is why no one is upset at Matt for taking the SJU job.

You are bad at this. Fred going to ISU is not comparable to Matt going to StJ and Williams following (if he does) or even Diallo.

In regards to hoping for TJ to bring recruits from UW and hoping MA does not do the same for StJ, cheering for a team is hypocritical by nature. I hope we "get rich" and have success at the expense of others, and **** anyone that attempts to do the same at the expense of ISU.

You are bad at this because you have absolutely, totally, 100% missed the point of what I am saying.

How is it not comparable in the context I was using it? ISU fans are ****** Matt left a friend to go home and build a program. If Fred had any friends in Minnesota, that is the exact same thing, right? How is that so different in that context? Of course a million things are different but that doesn't change the fact that the specific thing I am talking about is absolutely the same.

And any rational person can be selfishly ****** at the fact that Williams is leaving and likely following Matt A to SJU, but at the same time understand it and not take it personal or want to slander Matt's name. If it bothered Fred so much and it was something a friend would never do and it will ruin their relationship, Fred wouldn't have let him out of his LOI. Simple as that.

You can be a fan and not be a hypocrite, and that fact that you think otherwise says plenty.

I don't think anyone is ****** at Matt for taking a job at his alma mater, only that it's possible his leaving may end up costing us 2 good players.

Its going to be real shady if he ends up at St Johns. Did Fred put any restrictions on the release?

How much coaching is Matt doing? Makes it seem like Matt is just the bag man for this deal.

Matt A - the A stands for for a**Hol*. If Fred works with that POS again he is stupid.

Man...some people need to lay off Matt. Yeah, he ****ed over Iowa State, but he's just doing his job. I sure as hell would never welcome him back, even if he gets fired after 2 years at St. Johns and would settle as our video coordinator.

But he's just doing his job over there now.

If you look at the posts I quoted, it's more than just being ****** that we are losing a couple players. It's that people are specifically ****** at Matt A and making him seem like this shady, subversive person who shouldn't be trusted and they'd never want him back.

If he is that person, do you think that started just now? That while he was with ISU grabbing transfers he was this squeeky clean upstanding dude and all of a sudden he's this back alley shadow figure?

I think he's just a guy whose job is to recruit and while it sucks to lose Williams and have a lower shot at Diallo, that's the game and ISU is playing by the same rules. Fred could've hired a guy attached to a highly rated recruit if he wanted to.

We'll be fine with what we are bring back and with TJ.

Maybe I'm just listening to the vocal minority though.

Good riddance on Williams in my opinion. He likely would have come here and been a cry baby about playing time and transferred out after the year. We aren't going to build a top ten program with kids who don't even want to be here. Go find a freshman who bleeds cardinal and gold a la Naz Long.

Ok, you're right, some of those are pretty harsh.

Not worried. I feel like some of you may be overreacting.

We're going all in for next year because with 1 or 2 more right pieces, we've got a chance to be great.

I used to think so but our additions seem to be iffy at best, as of now. Not saying the staff won't do their best to get some key acquisitions, but Diallo? 3 weeks ago I had talked with someone close to the program and he was really upbeat we'd get him. A week ago, the tune was totally different. Not sure what changed, but I'm hearing KU unless St. John's makes the magical push. Williams was a perfect fit for Hoiball. Just because some of us are bummed doesn't mean we have to be told we're saying the sky is falling.
