Co-worker, "What should I do about this <random trivial issue> ?"
Me, "Have you contacted them?"
Co-worker, "No."

Co-worker remains standing at my desk...

Me, "Is there anything else?"
Co-worker, "So what should I do?"
Me, "I'd reach out to them since they'll have the answer that you need."

Co-worker stands there a few more moments.

Co-worker, "Do you want me to do that or do you want to handle it?"

Anyone else catch this on Fallon last night? Pretty cool...

When I come back to Iowa, I always find quarters in pop machines because people refuse the change.

Haha...took the bait...a true midwestern nice person would leave those, thinking the person forgot to get their change but they might be coming back. Only a skeezy out-of-stater or a McDonald's working Iowa fan would take someone else's change. So, we put those there after carrying them around in our arse crack for a day. While we're not confrontational, we are willing to be passive aggressive.

So that whole Dickeyville/Balltown thing reminded me about something I watched last night...

My wife has started selling Norwex (if you want to have a party let me know!) and had a party at our house last night. So I was just hiding in our bedroom and started watching Amish Mafia. Terrible show but I found it funny there are Amish towns in Pennsylvania by the name of Intercourse and Blue Ball.

cooler's post reminded me of my issue I was having last Friday but forgot to ask manager about before she left. So I was going to send her a reminder email yesterday, but this person had emailed me overnight. Ok, cool, I'll try to get an answer.

15 minutes into the office and literally drafting the email, they try to call me. I set my status to busy. Then they start messaging. So now I'm like welp, guess I'm going rogue here. Said I cannot answer until I know if this is something my manager wants me to waste an afternoon on (said more politely). They are like "well maybe I can talk to your boss?"

First of all, what part of "out traveling for the week and I am awaiting a response" didn't you get? And what do you mean "talk to her"? They made it sound like my meanie boss was preventing me from getting to do this list for them. No, I want my boss to tell you to track your own **** because I can't say that.

So they are like well what can I do? And I explain that those emails they get and said they don't really read through? That's me confirming their request was complete. Go find them and make a list. You already had all the pieces to do this but you didn't want to have to read your email and wanted me to do it for you. (ok, I said that nicer too) And off they went.

Talked to boss this morning, and she was in complete agreement - this is not my problem to track and they should do it themselves.

but yeah cooler, that person is failing at being a subordinate. if you find a problem, try to fix it yourself first unless it requires approval or clearance you can't give. And in that case, come in and say you have ID'd X issue, would like to talk to Y person about Z solution and just need you to give the ok. Don't immediately go running to the boss with your problem unless it's a major big problem.
