Has this ever happened before?

Monté's shot went in after the clock hit 0.00. We literally lead for 0 seconds of that game and we won. Has this ever happened in NCAA, or any other level of basketball?

I'm sure it's happened multiple times before at various levels, but that's sure an interesting way to think about it.

I'm pretty sure we did this a couple years ago as well but I couldn't recall what game. I could only think of the K-State game where Royce made the game winner, and the Okie State game where Scottie made the game winner. But I think it was earlier than that.

Bottom line - I think it has happened once under Fred before.

Unless...it was the WVU game where Georges made the game winner with just 2 seconds left...

I'm sure it's happened. A lot of games have been played and while rare, this doesn't seem like a one time ever type of thing.

KSU's game winner was with 1.8 left. OSU we were up at half. WVU we were up at half.

I know that shots fall with very little time left to win...a lot. But until someone shows me proof, I am refusing to believe that a team has won a game while leading for 0.00 second.

Actually the clock was at -0.1 and I have never sat through a game where this happened.

Ask ESPN stats & info to look it up. I don't know how, but do it.

Straight up Hornacek '86. Though we surely had a lead at some point against Miami. This is different in that regard.

I can't find anything exact...but by the box score it appears that the game was back and forth. Don't know for sure though.

Are you asking about any team or ISU? If any team, it has happened dozens if not hundreds of times at the various levels. I personally was in a game in JH where we lost the last game of the year on a shot at the buzzer after leading the entire game (and were undefeated at the time). That was so long ago that the sundial wasn't quite as accurate but there was no time left after the shot (dark times indeed).

He said after time expired. Game was over when we lead the first time.

We beat Creighton in Fred's first year coaching with a shot that left the shooter's hand after the red lights came on. The refs signaled good. There was no TV so there was no review possible. The photo on the front page of the DSM rag the next day showed it still in hand with the light on. It was against Mac too!

I'm in your boat. I would like to see another game where a team lead for 0.0 seconds, except for after the final buzzer has sounded. That probability of that is extremely low.

We had a game with Iowa I believe that they didn't lead or tie until the buzzer beater. can't remember the year or if their was any time left but pretty sure we have lost this way (early 90s am thinking)

They tied it up with 1.6 seconds to go...which means we were ahead before that.

No offense but pretty sure it's not all that unusual.

Judging by my 1 hour of research, it is pretty unusual, because I can't find one. I'm talking zero leads throughout 40 minutes of play. There are plenty of buzzer beaters after the clock expires, but that team always has had a lead at some point throughout the game.
