Yakwe is super raw from the games I've seen of him. He's an athletic freak but I don't see him coming in and lighting the world on fire.

Okay fair assessment as of today but, Yawke is still a 2016 recruit. He has steadily improving from this summer up to this point of his Junior year. If he stays on the same improvement schedule I'd expect him to be end up a top 50 recruit by the end his senior year and be able to contribute minutes his freshman year.

Call me crazy but I'd rather have Yakwe than Diallo.

All things being equal, why wait an extra year to land a blue chip? Diallo is more immediate. Yakwe would come into a situation where we were rebuilding a little more, whereas Diallo could put us squarely into Final Four contention.

Here's my reasoning for wanting Yakwe over Diallo.

Next year we have:
1.Niang
2.Naz
3.Monte
4.Mckay
5.Nader
6.Thomas
7.Cook
8.Burton
9.Williams

That's 9 legitimate guys and PT will be at a premium. If we get Diallo that'd be 10.

Yakwe is a year later and next year our seniors are Naz, Georges, Nader, Mckay. Therefore Yakwe would be a bigger get and could help fill the void of these guys.

You can't think of it being a "bigger get" because of what we lose in 2016. So much can change until then, we're in on some high major guys for 2016 plus transfers that will come available. Diallo is the biggest get possible. Fred wants to get top talent and landing our first McDonald's AA since Marcus Fizer would be a big deal in making that happen on a more consistent basis

I agree with this but team chemistry issues start to happen when you constantly recruit over players. Heck, it's already starting to happen this year. Guys are upset they aren't getting enough PT.

Newsflash: There's been more than a few teams with "chemistry issues" make deep runs in the NCAA tourney. Talent over everything. That's why Fred went the transfer route when he came in.

Who's getting recruited over if Diallo comes? Georges/Diallo/McKay will have plenty of "big man" minutes to go around

Look I'm not saying don't take Diallo cuz I obviously want him too. I just want Yakwe more and feel he's more valuable. But then again that's why I don't get paid the big bucks.

Fred's job is to get the best players he can at ISU and get them to mesh together. Monte wasn't happy when we brought Kane in last year and look how that worked out, made Monte that much better. Guys have to fight for and prove they earn minutes. Simple as that. You can't pass on true talent to not hurt guys feelings

With minutes?

Custer, MT, BDJ.

I know it happens in CBB people are unhappy with minutes all the time but it hurts chemistry which Fred has said numerous times is the biggest component of going places.

MT and Custer seem like guys to me than can handle not getting as much playing time as they'd like.

Dang, I guess I didn't hear about that. That's too bad.
