Your definition of what a ranking should be seems like the most pointless thing I could possibly imagine.
No, you're saying that. Record is all that matters to you in a ranking. ISU is better than some NBA teams according to you, they have a higher win% than most NBA teams so they should be better in a ranking.
The difference between our fifteen straight wins and UNI's fifteen straight wins is enough to justify those bricks. The point you are missing is, while record is important, who you play to get that record is more important.
Of those fifteen wins:
8 would be against ranked opponents
5 of those 8 would be on the road
we would be 14-0 in conference play
14 of the fifteen would be top 150 rpi
Of UNI's fifteen straight wins:
1 has been ranked (at home)
only 5 have been in the top 150 rpi
2 of those five have been on the road

which is the point HFCS is making that your thought process puts JUCOs, HS and JH basketball teams ahead of UNI... because who you play doesn't matter ... just your record.

When UNI and WSU played in Cedar Falls earlier this year, it was the first Missouri Valley conference game pairing two ranked teams FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1982!
33 years between a game with two ranked teams. Meanwhile, the Big 12 has 2-3 per week.

Drake is starting to kick @$$ in the Valley. They had a nice center and decent point guard but the rest of their team would be losing a fight with KJacks for playing time at ISU. They've won 5 of their last 8 games, some in blowout fashion. They are not a talented basketball team.
that scenario gave us the 5 RPI a week ago but now it's 7. Pretty crazy but we finish 3-3 we get a 9 or 10 rpi and 7-0 only a 7. Right now we are looking like as close to a lock either way for a 3# as can be unless we completely implode. We have nothing to lose and a conference championship to gain....also I ran both scenarios us playing as a 2 (Texas, OU, KU) and 1 (ksu, BU, KU) it didnt matter.

I think most people are saying the exact opposite. You cannot rank teams based purely on W-L. You need to take into effect who they have played.
If record is the only thing that mattered csu would be a top ten team. He clearly doesn't get it. N neither do some voters. Take tcu as an example

Anyone doubting our schedule should take note we can now limp to a top 10 RPI. It's crazy. Not that I would be happy limping to a great RPI finish.
Agree compeltely however, nothing wrong with voicing an opinion on a message board about rankings. I personally wouldn't rank UNI or WSU that high, but they'll get their chance to prove it in March.
Take care of the games ahead of us, and we'll get the seed we deserve.
Don't really understand the media love for UNI and WSU. Think WSU is still riding off the success of 2 years ago, while UNI is being looked at as great because they are toe to toe with this "mighty" WSU team in the MVC race. There really is no reason to have Iowa State below either of these teams.

Do I think ISU is significantly better than UNI? Yes I do. Would UNI feature their gaudy record if they played our schedule? I don't believe that to be the case. Are the vast majority of UNI fans also Hawkeye supporters? That's been my experience. Even so, I refuse to wish ill upon UNI and hope they win out the regular season, conference tournament and as far as they can go in the NCAA. If that keeps their ranking above ISU's, I'm OK with that...

They all have flaws...just the AP poll's biggest flaw happens to be UNI and even more WSU. Kansas is a legit two seed but having them #1 all year shows a flaw in the RPI.
I think the Sagarin ELO portion is actually the best individual metric tool for selecting teams based purely on who they beat resume comparison type thing. We're 11, UNI is 23, WSU is 16, KU is 8...it's the easiest ranking to easily point to who beat who and accept it all. Great potential tournament selection tool. Not perfect but simple, transparent, and defendable.
BPI has its own messes too, BPI has thought Ohio State was awesome most of the year.
The Sagarin ELO ranking has UNI 10th, they are 23rd in his composite ranking though.
