With the announcement that Kassoum Yakwe is taking an official visit to ISU for the OU Big Monday game, I thought he should have his own thread to track news on his recruitment.

Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello 21m21 minutes ago Four-star junior Kassoum Yakwe will take an official to Iowa State for the Oklahoma game next Monday.

Same high school as Cheick Diallo.

Kassoum Yakwe (’16, NY) will officially visit Iowa State March 1-3 (Oklahoma game), per a source.

Sweet, somehow I first read that as he was visiting OU. Although a package deal doesn't make much sense to me, isn't Diallo a 2015 recruit and most likely a one and done player? If so they wouldn't ever really play together.

I don't think Cheik is necessarily a one and done. I've thought that I saw some posts and links on here with interviews in which he stated that he may need a second year before the NBA. I'll try to find the post/link unless someone else does first. Doesn't mean that things won't change, but it makes the comments about a linked recruitment more credible.

edit: I did some looking around and was mistaken. Most of what I'm seeing is that he hopes to be a one and done. Regardless, hopefully Kassoum enjoys his visit and we'll need Hilton to put on a nice magic show for him. Go Cyclones!! :)

He's really blowing up. Kind of like when everyone was coming out to see Nerlens Noel and Niang was the one who made the big impact

Is it possible that Diallo is the incredibly rare self-aware one-and-done recruit who knows there is at least some possibility that it's not a guarantee things work out exactly how he wants with regards to his draft stock. I think the logic of, "ideally I'd like to go to the NBA right away, but if that doesn't happen I'd at least like to know that I'm going to get to play with my buddy for a year in college" actually makes a lot of sense.
