I'm in my 30's and I ask my dad for advice all the time. I don't usually do anything major without at least bouncing the idea off of him. Not that I'm immature or need direction but rather I trust his opinion and experience with many issues.

Yep, if I'd listened to my dad instead of my ***** ex-wife I wouldn't be stuck in a townhome I can't sell.

Have you told them your baby plans/timeline? I always hated talking to my parents about that. My mom doesn't meddle as much as she questions everything.

Nope. That set doesn't ask. We may talk about it in the abstract, like when we were working on house plans and deciding if bedrooms could fit two kids comfortably. But nothing like timeline. My mom's experience with an incredible nasty and meddlesome MIL virtually assures she goes (probably too far) the other direction. DH's parents definitely ask more and I'm sure will question a lot as we get to that point.

I'm in my very late 20s, and I call my parents, mainly my dad for advice, probably at least three times a week. Also it gives me a chance to call them.

It's getting to the point where I feel like I'm annoying them, but I know that feeling is just on my end.

My family doesn't copy one another intentionally, but we are so alike in our mindsets that we make eerily similar decisions sometimes. For instance, I have two sisters and a brother that bought Honda Odysseys within a month of each other. None of them knew until we went home for a family event and they all showed up with their new rides.

Also, my brother and sister ran into each other in Venice about 8 years ago. Neither knew the other one was going there.

That may change when you get older - my sisters & I provide iteneraries & contact info when we travel for more than a few days, and especially when we are overseas. That's mostly because of the concerns about our dad and his health.

No on the parents/siblings copying each other. My dad and my husband have very different car philosophies--my dad trades in/up to a brand new car for himself every couple years. With incentives and GM card rewards (he always buys a Buick) and trade in value, he isn't paying much out of pocket and has the means to do that. We drive vehicles for 10+ years (either paying them off right away or buying them outright so not a lot of monthly debt). My dad will usually mention when he is buying a new vehicle, but this last time I only knew when they showed up with it. And usually they look the same but he had to take a different color this time. Hubby's parents usually have at least one Honda in their garage and we have never had a Honda.

I will say I have a friend who as a "frenemy" who is constantly copying her. I keep telling her it is going to turn all Single White Female some day. It is pretty creepy.

I do talk to my parents each at least once or twice a week. It was hard when they would go on vacation for weeks at a time and we would maybe get an email every so often. Now with their ipad and now iphones we are able to message more while they are gone. We are trying to set up face time this week (they've been gone for almost 3 weeks).

now I want to hear about this frenemy thing!

This "parents buying cars" reminds me of seeing two co-eds parting ways for the night after a basketball game this season, and one gal saying to the other "I can't find my parents' car! I don't know what it looks like now!"

Oops.

Pants, there is a babe on Wheel of Fortune that lives in Honolulu. You should go get that. She is a yoga instructor. You know she would be fun.

I'm on it. Did it show her first name? Don't get me wrong, I have NO problem hitting on every yoga instructed in town, but from a time stance, it may help.

Warning to anyone who doesn't care...

Our little boy was born this afternoon! Everyone is doing great.

Now you finally know that feeling of thinking "Holy ****"....and not knowing for sure whether that's a "Holy ****, this is awesome" or "Holy ****, my life is completely different than it was 10 minutes ago"
