One of my best friends back from high school moved to West Virginia back in my freshman year, it was tough to deal with for a while. He came back into town the next year in the summer. We met up at the bakery in our town to talk about life.

He tells me he is going to West Virginia, and starts bragging about how good Huggins is (this is either right after they go to the Final Four or a year later, not sure). I said something about ISU sucking and hoping ISU would get on that level someday (fortunately Hoiberg comes in). I then still remember saying "too bad ISU and West Virginia will never be in the same conference, that would be awesome". We both laugh at how stupid that idea was and how it would never happen.

A couple years later, what do you know. West Virginia is in the Big 12, and whenever WVU and Iowa State play in football or basketball, it brings our friendship back for the day. Still remember that conversation like it was yesterday. Just goes to show you crazy things can happen.

Cool story bro moment of the day.

I've never had a Shamrock shake either.
Same here. I am not a big ice cream fan, and anytime I used to eat McDonalds ice cream it would not sit well. We maybe make it to McDonalds once a year.

The movie Blended is my latest guilty pleasure movie.
I watched that a couple weeks ago, it was cute. I generally like Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler movies. Love the references to their other movies.

my nephew wants to go to the game today, I may go with him. The walk to Hilton is not going to be fun, although I can't complain because we will have a parking pass. Still trying to convince my Dad to up his donation next year to get back north of Hilton. If it were up to him, he would. My Mom thinks there should be an athletics building named after him with all the money he has spent over the past 25 years. He hasn't quite given THAT much. Yet.

It's equally bad if you do. It's the holiday that preys on the feeling that love needs to be expressed with something you buy from a store.

Unlike Christmas which is a holiday that has turned into the feeling that you need to give/receive lots of expensive gifts to express/experience love...

Oh wait...

I got little things for the girls (some of which I had gotten after Christmas 50% off) and got them cards. Hubby got some chocolate but no card. The three year old noticed there was no gift for me. Getting a heart shaped GP pizza is a good enough present for me--any night I don't have to cook is a gift.

I had picked up some new shirts at Cy's Locker Room on sale this week and was showing hubby. He said "Happy Valentine's Day!" I was thinking I bought them for my birthday, but works for today, too. :)

Funny how one thing can lead to another...

I was scrolling through facebook and three different people had shared a clip of an ice skating routine. The music was very familiar, kind of a haunting sound, and I was trying to place it....it wasn't until the dramatic fanfare finish that my old brain finally figured out it was themes from "Jesus ******, Superstar". I've been watching clips for the past half hour. :)

PapaLew is just shaking his head...

Wonder if I have it on DVD? I used to have a VHS of it...

Wind chill is -26. Good time to be sitting in the airport awaiting a flight to flee south.

So far so good. Taxi dude was early. Fast curbside skycap baggy check. Lucky and got TSA precheck. Maybe fastest ever cruise through checkpoint on a Saturday morning when it's usually crowded as hell with Minnesotans running away from home.

We played the main song/fanfare from JC Superstar my freshman year in the ISU marching band. Always liked that show. I could dig that performance up on VHS for you. :)

I am kinda hoping that music from Superstar isn't going to be stuck in my head the rest of the day. Old guy flashback problems (maybe).

There is a dude I saw earlier with a barking barking barking barking wiener dog in a travel bag. Now this guy is at my gate. Seriously, what are the chances? Is this db going to be on my plane? Can you take barky dogs to Mexico with you?

My mom posted pics this morning of the fjords of Chile. They had some ice chunks floating chunks and we're seeing glaciers. Not quite a warm weather cruise (at least parts of it). ;)

And old gal! Why do you think I started watching clips? "Prove to me that you're no fool...walk across my swimming pool..." (you're welcome)

Have a great trip, Boxster!

Ack, hawk sighting! Dude wearing the Flinestones logo of that eastern Iowa school. Probably on my plane to.

Slapping ISU stickers on my bag!

Bored, tired Boxster waiting for a plane with free wifi = thread spamming!

Shouldn't it be late summer down there?

I think they had planned on that. Some of their at sea days were in the mid-50's. Mom said she hadn't packed enough cool weather clothes so was having to layer. They are near the southern tip and at the coast, so I think it is more moderate.
