I guess I really don't understand the whole grey thing. Then again, I've never really been into bodice-busters (romance novels with Favio-esque half naked men on the cover...).
And like I said - if you know me at all through my posts, I'm not really big on gender roles and I tried to raise my kids that way. Since one is now a single dad with a son 8 and a daughter 7, it's a good thing I did.

I'd laugh at that, but I actually know the guy that had the zebra and parakeet in that bar in Dubuque that made national news a couple years ago. So...

I think I've told the story before, but one time my misogynistic BIL tried pulling the "you cook? That's woman's work" on me and the Mrs. I kinda blew his mind for a second when I responded with "Yeah, you're right, but I really love good food, and I figure that anything any woman can do, I can do better". It was like he couldn't rectify his cooking=woman's work logic with his men are always better than women logic.
(of course, I didn't mean it, but I decided to illustrate absurdity by being even more absurd)

Although....I walk a fine line, too....although I'm not big on gender specific roles...I do believe we have to be careful to recognize and celebrate the differences between genders. To go back to my 'man color' statement, one of the less controversial ones is that women are (generally) demonstrably better at distinguishing between minute color differences. That doesn't mean that men or women are better or worse because of that, but I also don't think we do ourselves any service by denying or covering up those differences.

Oh, dude....Cowgirl is totally going to make sure the shades are closed for the forseeable future.
And, so...it appears the extremely cold weather is going to make it a ***** to maintain the proper temperature in the smoker (with sausage, you gotta be right in 170-180 range...below and you don't fully cook, above and you render the fat out), so it looks like a long morning of fiddling with the smoker to get these snack sticks done.
Another person in my office just got canned. This wasn't a big surprise, though. It turns out that you actually have to show up to work to stay employed. He had missed 10 days since New Years.

There are general things for which one gender or the other shows more aptitude, certainly. Our bodies are physiologically different. However, where I draw the line is when those generalities are presented as absolutes. "Real men don't cry", "women make lousy mechanics", the whole pigeon-holing thing.
I was raised to be a wife & mommy. Period. I was sent to college not to get an education, but to get an educated man. I was in my early thirties when I finally came to the conclusion that I was a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. Instead of waiting for my husband to find time to perform simple repairs on household appliances I took the dryer apart & figured out from the schematics and the charcoal that the heat coil was shot, bought a new one and installed it. Words will never be able to express how proud I was of accomplishing that very simple (in retrospect) task. That was about 30 years ago, and it remains something I am very proud of...proving I could do something on my own that my father and my husband assured I couldn't.
Maybe that will give you a little insight into some of the stands I take.
