So, my 4 year old is very soft hearted...today he had the Ipod while I made lunch and Mrs was running errands. He then put it down and was playing with something else and 2 YO picks it up (he really doesn't do anything with it, it's just a thing to play with). 4 YO says that he was playing with it, and 2 YO took it. I had seen that he wasn't actively playing with it, and that's a thing we've been working on with him...if he played with something anytime in the last 2 hours, that means he's 'playing with it'...so I told him that 2 YO didn't 'take it', and he wasn't actively playing with it, so 2 YO could have it for a little bit, he plays with something for like 30 seconds anyway and then he's done.

No good, 4 YO starts bawling, 2 YO walks into the kitchen with his new prize, then stops, and says "He can have it", and takes it back over to him.

Bad dad inside my head wanted to say "4 YO...you're lucky your younger brother is more mature than you and decided to be the bigger man about it"...but I didn't, I just made him give a very boisterous "thank you"....but it's amazing how the two of them are different.

I also think mom plays in somehow...we had to go to the dentist while Mrs. ran other errands...he was fine the whole time, we had a good time (at the dentist, no less!)...Mrs. walks in for 15 seconds and asks if he wants to go to the library for story time, he says no. She says "OK, see you later"...he starts bawling...then bawling over going AND not going in quick succession...WTF...

Well, they must not do it cyclic any more unless you're typing with one one thumb. Back when I used to donate platelets, they took blood out of one arm, put it through a machine that spun out the platelets, added an anticoagulant to the remaining parts of the blood and pumped it back into the other arm...all continuous. One thing I remember is that it would make your lips & nose itch. They gave you Tums to suck on, not for your stomach, but for the calcium they contained. I'm not really sure of the science behind it but somehow the procedure depletes your calcium, which makes your nose & lips itch. The technicians would come by periodically to rub your nose with a towel if it itched too badly. with needles in both arms at the inner elbow, you couldn't do it for yourself!
Yeah now they do it just through one arm, they pump your blood out and it goes through a machine to take the plasma out then they add an anticoagulant and pump it back in. It's basically 3-4 minutes out then 3-4 minutes back in. It's kind of cool because they have your progress on the machine that you can see, I think at my weight class per se I donate 880 mL of plasma

I feel slightly dizzy reading this.

what? Our kids have to get the garlic gene. DH and I love garlic.

Apparently they're also fated to have the blood fainting gene. Poor little whippersnappers....

Mrs. didn't like garlic when we met, but my wonderful cooking has turned her to the good side. She now greets the smell of cooking garlic with "Oooh, smells GOOD in here".

Tis true. I don't faint from blood though. Not possible after growing up on a farm.

Delayed reaction to a vaccine (no, to those of you on the other one, not the childhood reaction I mentioned), weird joint cracking, and working out sick.

Nevada girls beat Gilbert by around 15. I think Paige ended up leading scorer for Gilbert with 11.

Gilbert boys crushed Nevada by 30. Jack got around 6-8 points.

Thought about saying hi to Fred after the game but chickened out.

not a big French Onion soup person, 00. DH likes to try it at places though.

BBQ....now french onion soup? There was so much potential, CG, but now....it's gone....all gone.

Edit: Now...have you actually HAD french onion soup, or are you just anti-onion altogether? Cause...french onion soup doesn't really taste like onions, they're caramelized into oblivion and end up tasting semi-sweet.

I used to not like onions, but now I put them (well cooked!) into lots of things. Let me put it this way, I had a bite of it and found it perfectly fine, but since it's not something we make/grew up with and DH has just tried it once or twice when out..... it's not something I choose to spend the money and calories on.

So I guess I shouldn't say I don't like it. I just choose cheese curds instead.

Well, to be fair, you actually never said you didn't like it, you said you weren't a big french onion soup person...which is pretty accurate to your description above....I just extrapolated that how people often use that as a polite way of saying "icky, eww, yuck"...so my fault.

Honestly, the only french onion soup-ishness I grew up with was making dip out of the packets and sour cream, but I got onto it with Alton Brown. I don't eat it often, cause of the cooking involvement, but the crock pot thing may be a game changer.
