I am pretty sure he works for a sports network down in the southeast doing a basketball show. He is also doing alot of color commentary for games too.

I highly doubt he would have listed the other rumor in the article as a reason for leaving...
That was the rumor at the time, and has come up again, and again, and again. I don't see him making that public in an article.

I think another thing this article does is shows that other schools are wrestiling with WHY players are leaving as well. ISU fans seem to think that we have a unique problem with attrition. MSU apparently is also wondering why they have so many players leaving. Mostly, I believe that CBB has really changed in the past few years. Even 10 - 15 years ago, I don't recall this much transferring. CBB players are treating their college play time like the pros do with free agency. I think it has gotten out of hand at most schools, not just ours.
"Hell to Heaven" For casual readers that really don't know the other rumblings. Thats what I meant when I said it hurts. Hell is a pretty strong word in reference to a school he attended and we love.
The rumor was posted here on CF a few months ago. It had to do with Shane and a coaches wife.

In context, it seems pretty clear that "hell" refers to his perceptions of the situation with the basketball program, not his feelings about Iowa State or Ames. He had just said a few sentences before how he'd grown to love the Ames and Iowa State communities, so I doubt he would turn right around and call them "hell."
I can tell you that LE was EXTREMELY hard on Shane. I saw a couple of workouts at State Gyn and you would not beleive the verbal abuse Shane took and he didn't take it well. He would be really down after some practices. Plus, LE pulled a scholly from Shane's cousin, although that was expected, and basically ran him off the team...
I completely understand what you are saying and thought that as well. It's just odd, he stated coming off the championship team the year before, being captain as a sophomore , then calls the situation hell. I believe he just needs to explain why he perceived it so poorly to label it as hell. If his teammates backed him so much, then why did they not all leave the same year as well. It just proves to me that there is a lot more to the story that did not relate directly to the other players.
It didn't relate to the players. It related to the coach. He doesn't call out Larry in the article. But Shane wasn't happy playing for LE and that is all that is to it.
Some guys take that well and some don't.... I also saw many practices during that time and he was hard on EVERYONE... I can see how it sometimes comes off like he was picking on a certain person.
Shane was the captian on the team. Who do people blame first if the team is playing terrible?
Plus everyone on the team knew LE had a drinking problem, and people didn't like it on the team. Trust me... I like LE, but he would of eventually ran everyone off the team. I'm still think Adam would of left even without the coaching change.
