well if you hadn't licked the windows when you were spying a couple weeks ago, you wouldn't have gotten DH's bug.

Also, DH's dad got the bug this week now (so odd that he didn't get it when his wife was sick at Thanksgiving). He did the DH faint yesterday as well. DH was in the room with him and saw it coming. Luckily, he too missed sharp edges going down. He skipped yesterday's holiday food but was eating like normal today. Both DH and DH's mom warned him from experience that he should not do that and will likely pay for it tomorrow!

So advice to you, don't do dairy or fatty foods for a few days yet.

So sissy girly fainting runs in the family? Mr. Cowgirl Jr is out of luck.

Pants, Rulzz grandma, & KC, CG's FIL, hope everyone gets well soon/and or healed up. Just finished last of Holiday gatherings no major blow ups, ready to get back to my own thing and lots of Cyclone BB.

We all survived 6 days at the IL's. Mostly thankful for good road there and back. Ate way too much. Got 4" of snow on Friday, so took the girls sledding twice yesterday. Wow, after eating all week and not doing my usual workouts the hill kicked my behind. Especially when I had to pull 40lbs in the sled up the hill.

One more Christmas this week on Wed. Will host my family, eat Hickory Park meat, and all head to the game.

Wait, why was your FIL bleeding? Wasn't that when Mr. Cowgirl went teats up?

He wasn't, but he hadn't eaten or drank all day. And I think the low blood pressure runs in the family. He'd also been lying down all afternoon and then came down to help an elderly relative into the house. Just another bad combo.

I thought I'd miss cable dearly, but decided not even to hook it up when moving here. Netflix is my friend. And I haven't come across an ISU game for football or basketball that wasn't on Cyclones.tv or streamed somewhere (as long as you've got good virus protection on your computer). The streams aren't HD by any means, but as long as it's on a major channel and your internet isn't super slow, it would be fine. Get an hdmi cable and just hook your laptop up to your tv.

We've got the HDMI hookup on DH's computer, so that's usually what we do unless he wants his computer for something, then I just watch on my laptop.

I guess it's not like all the ISU games are on basic cable anyway - I've already watched a few streams anyway this season. Games on ESPN/FSN should be more likely to get streamed I would think. Maybe we'll just go ahead then.

Ahh, well, sorry about that, then. I also kind of have low blood pressure. I've only ever fainted after giving blood, but I have gotten light headed getting up quickly...but reallydo...you're not helping Mr. Cowgirl's case sharing all of this fainting stuff.

For some reason I got gut cramps on the way up to Wiscy, felt varying levels of crappy thru the day, but gutted out the waterpark, Moosejaw, and present opening. Did allow me to tap out early after that, slept 10 hours and felt mostly better yesterday....took 'er pretty easy on the stomach, though, still not 100%

The grandpa on that side and my great-grandpa both died of heart attacks so I'll take the sissy fainting if it comes along with low blood pressure!

and seriously, another plane disappeared?! I saw it on FB last night but thought it was one of those spoof posts.

hey 00, how was the Dells? Do you go through Madison on your way?

They were okay, Mrs. 00 and her family are not very good about remembering that a 4 and 2 YO don't do real well with go-go-go for 2 days straight, even though they'll gladly participate. But, I'm kind of used to that, I just wasn't feeling real well, either. But, had fun. Got beer and a beer T-Shirt for my gift, so that was cool.

Did not go thru Madison, wasn't any point if you weren't there , I think we turned north at Barneveld or Mt. Horeb. Did drive by the house on the rock, though.

Yesterday was rough, found out my friend from college had a very difficult year, and will have a similarly difficult coming year. Like, to the extent that he asked me how things were going, then I asked him, and he talked for probably an hour or two, and I kept thinking the point where it started turning around was coming up next...but it never did. By the end, I was feeling guilty for saying how happy I was. It stinks because I kind of went thru a test myself, and now he's been thru the wringer, and despite being completely in step in college, life/family/kids and living apart mean we don't stay in touch that often and neither of us were there for each other. But, I'm going to try fixing that going forward.

ha, no I mostly wondered if you went up 12 to 90 but you cut up the way we used to go from home.

Yeah, the nieces were sooooooooo tired today - the almost 3 year old was probably going to be a major bear to get into the car. I tried to play the "let's sleep" game with her this afternoon, but she decided "nighttime" would only last about 45 seconds. Even though as she came up the stairs one time to "check" on me sleeping, I heard her saying "ughhh, I'm SO tired!"

Sounds like though a listening ear is really all you can offer your friend right now, it might just be what he needs.

Both kids slept pretty much 100% of the way from Baraboo to La Crosse. We weren't even out of the parking lot when 2 YO fell asleep.

Husband on the phone with his brother to wish him a happy birthday.

Niece/nephew #7 will be making an appearance end of August. Yet another Christmas present to add next year, and "celebration" #12 to add to the August/September grouping for us.

are you still waiting on the first niece?

I got volunteered to give older niece a bath last night. I don't think I've ever done that. (part of her being tired and cranky thing was that she wouldn't let parents do normal things but would let uncle DH or aunt CG do them instead). We both survived, but I noped out when she wanted me to put the diaper rash type stuff in her pull-up.

Hey cowgirl, my parents and I are probably coming up to Madison next weekend to look at U Wisconsin for law school. Any restaurant recommendations for lunch or dinner?

how much are you looking to spend/type of fare? I'll be very, very honest, when DH and I find what we like, we don't venture far from that often cause we don't want a lemon!

I've hear that Graze is great from someone who worked at fancy restaurants, but I have not been there myself. Our downtown favorites are Tipsy Cow (lunch or dinner, pub type place with amazeballs cheese curds and burgers). Tornado Room is a great steakhouse that DH likes to go to for his birthday dinner. Del Monico's is another great steakhouse but their seating was pretty crowded the night we went there.

Great Dane is another good pub type place for lunch/dinner. Old Fashioned gets a lot of attention - haven't actually been there yet because they're always busy at dinner but I have tried their cheese curds and thought they were too greasy, so I haven't wanted to eat there, lol.

Paisan's is a cheap Italian place on overlooking one of the lakes - good food though. Ian's Pizza is a good quick lunch place - but if you come up here for school, you'll probably eat there often enough.
Bellini's is another nice Italian place in an old church. More of a romantic feel though while Paisan's is more family atmosphere.

Law school for you? As in another potential Clone fan up in this area?

Since I gave like 8 options, my favorites are Tipsy Cow and Tornado Room. Paisan's for Italian in your situation (with parents in tow).

If you like beer, we have been to Capital taphaus several times, always had good food. Unfortunately, in the winter, the chance to hang out on the patio and hear the hippie protesters and generic Madison nutballs is missing.

Capital Amber is proooooooobaly my favorite beer.

If you like the protestors, you should go to the farmer's market sometime. Not to go cave-y, but you get a whole stack of 9/11 and evolution deniers.
