Random thoughts III

Don't worry I miss finals all the time. I usually just tell them the truth that it is different from my routine so I got things mixed up. Some tell me to shove off and I get a 0 or most of the time I get to take it right then and there when I meet in their office.

I don't think I ever missed one/mixed them up. I was pretty adamant about not wanting to do that so I had the finals schedule all written out in my planner so that wouldn't happen.

Every year I was given a planner. From 8th grade to now. I have not once used it in the almost 10 years of receiving one and I don't plan to start now.

I brought a small stack of Christmas Music with me to work. It's all about classic Christmas carols in either brass or Mannheim Steamrollers. It should be slow enough that I can play it at a reasonable level instead of really soft.

Ended up taking Z to the game. Was mostly happy. I think she was tired still from playing with her cousins. That went mostly well. It was funny, and I tried not to laugh when the six year old was afraid Z would break one of her presents and was hiding from her to use it. She also tried to climb the other's pile of presents. She was soo tired and fussy toward the end of the game though poor kid.

I'll spare you my college flu story about when the boys packed me up and took me to the hospital when I spiked the plus 104 temp and was semi-delirious.

I'll just have to assume it looked something like this then

*shudder* cue recurring nightmare

It's funny how parents can see this when others can't. The kiddos went to Gma and Gpa's house this weekend, so the Mrs. and I could get Christmas stuff done, then we had that thing at church Saturday night. Sunday afternoon we went to pick them up, they raved about how good the boys were all weekend, then little one had a meltdown when it was time to go home. Gpa was all down about it, saying how well the rest of the weekend went, he hated to see him upset, was trying to hold him to console him (which wasn't working). I said...it's not you, it's not us, he's just tired. I put him in his carseat and gave him his blanket, he kept crying, but was asleep in less than 5 minutes when we started driving. Gma and Gpa tend to try and pack every minute they're there with 'fun', so generally they're just sprung by the time we get them back and it takes a few days to get them back on center. So much so that I told the oldest "If you just want to rest a little, just tell them that, okay?"

Definitely true. I get that a 9 & 6YO don't understand that a toddler needs space. It didn't help that she napped on the way over and was disoriented from waking up. The constant attention wears you down. Hopefully she will nap for dad today.... or I'll try early bedtime (wishes)

One of my favorite CDs I had at my old job for Christmas was a jazz cd with classic songs. It stayed non-repetitive and as you said, you can play it a little louder without people really noticing.

00, will your kids actually tell you when they need a rest? My daughter has only done that once. Pretty sure she was out about 10 seconds after her head hit the pillow.

need a woman's perspective here... why are there so many women with big, undefined upper arms? Here is an example.

Is it a bad diet, no exercise, or what? My wife commented on how many women have really bad arms at the same time they aren't really fat.

I've wondered about this too. Even with exercising a lot lately, my upper arms still seem odd to me. Part of it is the cut of the sleeve or bodice of the outfit. It doesn't show off the arm well at all. There is some part due to the person's state of exercise.

Women just naturally having higher body fat probably has something to do with it.

In college I would pretty routinely fall asleep with 8 to 10 people playing video games in my dorm room. With 2 or 3 using my actual bed as a couch. You'll acquire this skill.
